Did you watch the game yesterday by the way? He was personally responsible for 2 of Hull kr's first half tries. He also gifted catalans the only try they scored last week.
In a salary cap sport, you do NOT throw stupid money at players like King.

Of course we are assuming he's asking for a lot more money, but maybe he's just on a bit of a bum deal and we've started by offering him a bit more but not quite what he's worth. I think he's a great centre, generally consistent and will stay an international standard player. I'm sure Saints or Wigan would snap him up. They won't be offering him a marquee spot though, and I hope we don't fall into that trap either.

To be honest we are probably jumping the gun on the news he's turned down our initial offer; If we have any sense we are not going to go into the negotiations by showing our hand our we? It's a business.

It’s called negotiation, he will want to get as much money as possible knowing he is highly thought of here and on Sky. The club will know how much they are willing to pay. Hopefully they reach agreement as decent centres aren’t exactly dropping off the trees, but if they can’t he moves on. Let’s be honest it’s a sign of our improvement if we can say no rather than throwing a contract his way for fear of other teams as per Livett.
I don’t understand those who want him to play 2nd row when we have plenty of second rowers and a dearth of centres.
I would be keeping a close eye on Mamo though who slowly but surely is showing his worth.

I’m not saying throw stupid money. I wouldn’t be making him a marquee player but he’s one of our best players, only 24, classed as homegrown and currently our top try scorer. Mautuati linked, would you be happy if King went and we signed him? There’s not that many good players available at the minute especially English ones.

Judging a player on who he signs for isn’t really a true indication of their quality either. Lots of factors could come into play, money, family etc. It’s like saying how come Jackson Hastings only went to Salford? Is Tom Johnstone not better than Wakefield?

We’ve offered him 140k I believe and he’s turned that down.

He's been offered that elsewhere, we haven't matched it yet(and rightfully so!)
