Reply to letter about Hull FC fans in RL Express : Tue Jun 30, 2009 6:28 am
There is a letter in this weeks issue querying why Hull FC have replaced "Old Faithful" with chants about *anky *arrington. Could I provide the answer ..
1 "Old Faithful" contains rather a lot of words which are too much for the modern day FC fan to remember in one go.
2. It is important that these words are sung in a specific order. Once this was no problem, but nowadays *anky *arrington only has two words and, it doesn't matter if they get them the wrong way round .... which they frequently do.
3. Most importantly though, after the first line ..."Old Faithful" opposing fans, and especially Rovers fans, join in with "You'll never win at Wembley". Try it and see next time you play them. his cuts them deep and really gets up their noses so they no longer take the risk.
