actualy quite sloppy : Sun May 31, 2009 10:27 am
i know weve won the game and everything but i thought we werent that good yesterday and certainly not as good as the week before that against wigan. we made quite a few silly mistakes and sometimes looked clueless in attack where clarke had moved forward from dummy halve to look for monas/briers/mathers and no-one being there so hed have to scoot it. i was please though with the comeback and in the last 15 minutes we looked world-class again and it didnt look like hull kr were going to score a drop goal in a million years. pleased but weve got to up the performance another notch if were to go to wembley.

Yep. The handling at times was terrible. In the first half the completion rate was poor.

The thing that helps us through periods like this though is our defence, which has improved out of sight.

As long as we defend well, I am always confident that we can do things when the passes start to stick.

its against teams like saints were it will be worring because a knock-on or silly decision is all they need to score a try and effectivly change the game

In the past we either produced champagne rugby and won or rolla cola rugby and lost. We are now capable of winning ugly - long may it continue

Let's not forget though that Hull KR and Wigan are no mugs. They are both decent teams, and we did enough to beat them both.

Smith's comments afterwards acknowledged that we were poor, so hopefully he will get them working on it.

For the third week running now though we have seen an improved 2nd half perofrmance after the team talk.

In a strange way we did really well. It felt like KR were winning 90 percent of the tackle and getting quick plays in, this gave them great field position running at our players when they were still retreating. Although we were poor to constantly get in these situations we did really well to stop them scoring and we gave away very few penalties considering

Number of KR tries from errors/penalties. I reckon there was 3.

Grix losing control in the tackle leading to KR scrum and first try. There was two from penalties as well. Rauhihi & Westwood?

Thing is we generally are quite clinical when were in our own half. If your going to give away pens I suppose you want to do it away from your line.

Lee's kicking game still isnt good enough. Cant help but think we make it easy for the opposition not having to trudge back as far because the full back gets an easy take on the full and can make more yards (even though we chase well.) Bar the match winning moment I wasnt that impressed with him only because I know how much better he can be.

There is still a lot to improve on.

I thought KR did some excellent defending out wide yesterday. Obviously did their homework on our moves and werent afraid to rush out of the line an commit to the tackle if it looked like a try was on.

If we can cut out the mistakes and penalty's we would defiantly be a force in the League and Cup year after year, When we went 10 points behind the team were awesome in defence and more controlled meaning the pens and mistakes were down to a minimum if any, we shown great character to come back from those 10 points but we need more composure when near the opposition try line and try not to give teams so much of a head start but were defiantly moving in the right direction and improving game after game.
