A serious injury to Castleford's rising star Joe Westerman held up the Tigers' engage Super League encounter with St Helens for 12 minutes this afternoon.

The 19-year-old loose forward appeared to go into spasms after colliding with a Saints player in the first half at The Jungle.

He was eventually carried off on a stretcher after lengthy and careful treatment by at least eight medical or training staff.

Saints were leading 32-0 when the incident occurred after 29 minutes.

I hope he's ok.

Just read same on text. What with the current context of things, if anything like this happens (as it has), we're fearing the worst.

Hope he is OK, he has a bright future within the game. Just hope this does not ruin his confidence. Its not nice to see any player get hurt.

really glad to hear that Joe is going to be okay. He is a real talent and no one likes to hear of any player being badly hurt.
