Mathers to Start Next Week? : Sat Apr 18, 2009 3:21 pm
According to this:-

Personally I would give him a run out in the reserves next week. How can you alter a back line that performed so well last night?

We played against a team of motorway cones last night,Huddersfield will be a different battle altogether and as much as I liked the try Riley scored last night there is no way in this world he is SL quality as a 1st choice player ,yes maybe a lower earner to be used as back up in an emergency but he has the wrong build for a fullback or winger imo and isn't that good or strong enough in either position and I can't think of a 1st choice winger or fullback in the whole of SL who I wouldn't put him in front of .
So yes Mathers would be the right preference imo !

Think you are being a bit harsh there mate. Riley really came on last season & deserves his place on merit. I would keep him in the team tbh

Sheriffe and Platt (admittedly he played at centre last night but he was their first choice full back at the start of the season).

I would have either of them over Riley ,You shouldn't judge any player off 1 game ,my reference was over the season this and last and imo Riley is not of good enough quality to be a 1st choice Fullback or Winger ,The same goes for Penny as well ,he will never make a SL player and should be either sent out on loan to NL 1 or transferred out if anyone will have him ,he is taking up valuable salary cap space !
It was only last week that Sheriffe was the next wonder of SL when he helped Bradford beat Leeds 1

Bit harsh on Riley if he wasn't to get a shirt next week. Yes Bradford were dog eggs but you only play what's infront of you. Caught every ball, returned the kicks well and joined the line well in attack.... almost a perfect showing from FB

OK, the vast majority! The point is to give credit where credit is due. IMO he earned his jersey for Sunday last night
