Labour.

Strongly support Brown's methods of getting the country out of recession, the Conservative way would mean the NHS and the Education system taking a big funding cut.

Also dislike the fact that the Conservatives have not as yet laid out any Economic Policy, purely because they don't really know what to do.

Labour generally align with most of my political beliefs: Strong NHS, Strong Education System and defiant against oppressive political regimes.

May i also strongly encourage a Labour Vote on June 4th in the European Election. There is a strong possiblity that the BNP will win a seat from Labour due to the Proportional Representation system. A Win for the BNP would be a nightmare and give support to discrimination and inequality.

Too bad you supported The Clinton Campaign.

A valid point but open to conjecture. The Parteimitglieder was estimated to be made up with 51% of its membership from the middle classes. Indeed it boasted over 1 million active members. It is true to say that a lot of it's members joined for reasons of personal development and career reasons.

Apparently I'm a liberal conservative, but have moved further to the right at times depending on what i've read/ whats going on.

If i vote tomorrow it would be conservative.

Sorry maybe I didn't make myself clear. The New Labour Government relies heavily on private finance to build hospitals for profit. Hospitals which are then used to deliver core health provision. The New Labour Government also outsources provision of core health services to the private sector in increasing amounts. I have no idealogical objection to either of these (in fact I believe that more private sector involvement would drive efficiency and quality) but I am buggered if I believe this to be a traditional Labour policy.

That is not correct. Like it or like it not, (and I am not an apologist for, or supporter of, Nazism in any way) according to respected historians, the Nazi party in Germany was broadly and genuinely popular with its core Protestant electorate until 1944. (Some would mischievously suggest until they believed the war could not be won). History also shows us that the German Reich Party contained a number of former Nazis and were duly elected in the first Bundestag election in 1949 despite being banned by the Allied authorities and under a rigorous, anti-democratic, process of denazification. Suprisingly it wasn't until the early 1960's when the Nazi Party was officially wound up. So, history shows us that the Nazi party had a broad base of support up until 1944 which continued long after the end of WWII.

I'm sure people joined the Nazi party for many reasons. One of those will have been to remove any suspicion that they were a communist or anybody else the Nazis wanted to get rid of. Who am I to argue with respected historians (unless you're referring to David Irving) and I know a lot about the German people to understand why they would support a party which wanted to create a Third Reich, but I still feel that you're on a sticky wicket using Nazi Germany as a marker in measuring democracy.

Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

71, what is your take on Osborne sharing the same growth prediction as Darling?

Please send a link, not saying he hasn't just interested to read it. I was of the opinion that the Conservatives/Osbourne were relying on the IMF to denounce the growth figures (see below) to avoid any potential for embarrassment in the unlikely event they are correct. I cannot blame him for that.

Darling/Brown already got the borrowing predictions woefully wrong (almost order of magnitude) for 09, 10, and 11 so we need to take his opinions with a pinch of salt.

It is in the Times, soewhere. Buggered if I can find it.
