go on then we will throw in king, and a monas.

On the subject of Monas, some Manly fans have started a group on Facebook asking for him to be swapped with Matt Orford at the end of the season. Looks like they can't wait to get rid of him.

Wouldn't it be terrible if we signed an over rated Aussie on inflated wages..... deja vu me thinks.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery.......

I will look to the moment, and miraculously, the future will take care of itself.

Radio 5 Live, Sat, April 14th, 2007,...Dave Whelan, "In Wigan, rugby will always be king"

'I was certain, positive, convinced, and yet..........unsure'

'It's only rock 'n' roll, but I like it'

Worry will not prevent destiny from unfolding.

I agree with you but the point about loyalty needs to be backed up by the ability to win trophies. Leeds have kept a very good squad together and stay under the salary cap by paying "stars" lower than they would get as the big fish at another club, but the basic unit of lads who have been playing together with their mates for a long time winning trophies, holds together (the odd one slips the net, eg Calderwood). I think this is much easier to achieve when you have a group of players who come through together rather than one shining talent who thinks he can do better elsewhere.

I have been an advocate for a number of years that we should look to bring through a successful team all together through the Academy. Where as the club has always played players at the highest level they are need at eg 17 year olds playing U21's rather than U18's. I guess its a question of whether you are developing players or the team?

I await Saturday with interest to see whether O'Brien plays U18's or reserves.

Jon Amaechi's from Stockport, he went to my school but was a few years above me, everybody knew him as Big Jon because he was 6ft 11, he played second row for the union team. First British player in the NBA, he used to come back to our school doing talks and basketball sessions. Very principled and intelligent bloke, got a PhD in Psychology, openly gay and left wing politically, he became a controversial personality in the States by being highly critical of US foreign policy, the Yanks didn't like a gay black man talking politics and he got death threats, had all the "if you don't like us, f off home" stuff. In the end he came back and set up a basketball Academy in Moss Side and works with kids in deprived areas. Fantastic guy.

He's just been on The Speaker on BBC2. Came across very well on the programme on Sunday. I was suprised to hear about his career in the NBA and thought I would of already had him on my sports radar.

He actually had a chance to go to the Lakers(best team at the time) and would have won a few championships but he opted for the lucrative deal and fade into mediocrity.
