No, I think the main driver is to free up salary cap for this year. Why on earth they wan't to do that is beyond me though.

Two things that may have a bearing on an announcement:
1) World Cup schedule has not changed, despite.....
2) .....There were no crowds at the NRL fixtures today.

It’s not the first time I’ve said it FMC, the cap penalty is now a nonsense after the Wigan debacle...just take the nothing fine and screw the cap.

I’m actually sort of proud of our record of not breaking the cap. It would be nice if we could finally win a grand final with the record of being the only club to have won it and not cheated the cap at any point. It would be something to throw back in the faces of critics who point to our first SL title after 12 years of being nearly men.

All four clubs to have won the SL title have also been punished for cap rule breaches at some point. We haven’t (so far!).

I think that’s quite something to shout about. A bit like winning a final without any of your players using dirty tricks or foul play, even when the other team has been at it.

That is correct, and it would be nice, but I’m past caring. I’d be happier to have screwed the cap, took the slap.....than see Catalan win it before us!

I wasn't very confident at the start of this season, as I thought it would be 'same old, same old'. But now the pressure seems to be off, it's made me feel a bit more upbeat and it seems the team feel the same way. While we don't look ruthless or clinical yet, as long as Saints and Wigan don't look that sharp either we could well snatch a GF win. Nothing to lose.

I think I've enjoyed the last couple off months more than the last two seasons (barring the cup win).

Here’s a thought...

If Wigan or Leeds had persuaded Williams to sign for either of them, would they have been remotely concerned about busting the cap this season to allow him to play?
After Leeds got £10k fine suspended to pay £2k?
Wigan....2 points 1 points no points, 2 year suspended by a company that was working ‘independently’ but under the payroll of both parties...that was concurrent anyway in term. So nothing.

Just do the deed Wire.
