Holbrook didn't exactly have the best record when it mattered... Lost multiple knock-out games to both us and Catalan. Bit of a choker, no?

This does sound a little Aesop.

By stating a fact? I care neither way whether Holbrook comes or not because I don't think any coach will get us over the line such is my dissolusionment with the club in general after the past couple seasons, so why not Holbrook tbh. Just saying that we did in fact make him look silly with the likes of Price in charge and the something club that was Lineham, Mamo and was it Currie? Maybe King. Point stands.

HHolbrook was reportedly keen to accept our offer but sadly his family didn't want to come back.

Also Justin Morgan signing a new deal to stay in the NRL: https://www.totalrl.com/ex-hull-kr-boss ... ague-move/

I'm getting ominous vibes of the mess we found ourselves in after DVDV left and Neil Kelly turned us down and we were scrambling around trying to find somebody and ended up with Anderson and Plange.

If needs be just stick with Chambers and Marshall for a year and look to recruit next year, rather than just grab whoever we can get and hope...

About the same number from those on here who were urging to stick with Powell and slating the "knee jerkers" over the last 18 months. Zero.

To be fair his first year was as bonkers as anything I've witnessed and not just at the Wire, to say Powell's methods polarised opinion is an understatement and some might rightly but not in hindsight supported Powell to make it work given full backing and a reasonable amount of time. .

As a collective, once our heads cleared and we faced up to last season's nadir (given the investment and expectation), we seemed to be saving our assessment for the first run of games (6 or 8), where we all thought we'd know where we stood. How daft were we then?

Although as I've stated elsewhere I don't think that the majority were fooled by our blinding start and his removal from post is anything but a knee jerk reaction.

Holbrook will no doubt have swung back to the new Wayne Bennett from the overnight Andy Last on the redvee scouse reactionary coach-o-meter.

This for definite, I said it in an earlier post somewhere....let the dust settle in the 'post Powell era', then look to move forwards with the RIGHT person, not just any random Aussie who fancies money off coupons for Ego in Stockton Heath.

On the positive side it shows our intent to get the best coach available and we moved fast but we might regret the rumours about how much we were willing to spend. Getting Aussie families to commit to a few years over here is a real issue. I think the vast majority of fans were looking forward to seeing what Holbrook could do ... but not to be. We move on.
