It pains me to use this particular football analogy, but City worked towards where they are now under Guardiola by putting their house in order first. The difference of course being that they seemed to have targeted their man and put all the 'back of house' pieces in place with Director of Football Scouting and Recruitment roles on the basis of 'what would Pep want?'
They didn't use their new found wealth to put in place what Pearce, Hughes or Mancini wanted, theirs was a bigger vision. However, I hope like them that we agree a plan and make sustainable progress and stop jumping from the frying pan into the fire every couple of years exciting though that can be.
Pretty much, spot on
As a City fan of 46 years, I've seen it all.
The complete Muppetry of Peter Swales', the lunacy of Franny Lee. The club started to get a little balance when David Bernstein took over, but soon disappeared when we got the fruitloop that was Shinawatra.
Mansoor's money, brought in his best mate Khaldoon. He has world leaders on speed dial on his phone. Simon Moran has Gary Barlow, and Fitzpatrick has Ian Blease.
After the club sacked Mancini (but he WAS trusted with money....Yaya, Silva, Aguero), we tried to get Pep. We missed out, as he went to Bayern, but we got the next best things.....his mates Bergerastan and Sorriano from Barcelona. The club waited for Pep's Bayern contract to fizzle out, then pounced. The rest, as they say, is history. Bide your time and get the RIGHT man for the job
