We were absolutely shocking today in a boring match as we had too many players out of position. We were dominated in the forwards completely in the first half and most of the second. The halves were awful and our passing and kicking game sucked big style. We scraped a win against a poor team, however, we were little better. Bridge was shocking.
Hull couldnt get anywhere near out line in the second half so I dont know how we were being dominated.
How many drop outs did our tactical kicking force?

What game were you watching?
Morley had one of his best games ever and Briers kicking resulted in 4 line drop outs?
What I find pleasing out of all of this, is that at least we have a Plan B. I know there's an arguamant that we shouldn't need a Plan B if 'A' is executed properly, but now & again in SL, you'll have opposition that find a way to stop you, and you have to counteract that, this happened last night. One of Culls failing if you were, was that if our Plan A didn't work, we were knackered, it was great to watch at times, but rarely did we win ugly or whatever you want to call it.
Tony got them in at HT, said his piece, obviously pinpointed the centre of the field, and it obviously soaked in, that's what'll please Smith. It's no good us watching the HT footage, him stomping around, then we come out and look just as clueless, they've listened, and I think this'll please him. Even if we hadn't have won, I think he'd have been pleased with the second half, as a coach, he must know that there's only so much he can do & say, the players execute his words, and he's delivered a HT teamtalk that's changed the game, because they've acted on his words.
We're starting to look like a decent side now, comfortable top eight stuff. We're also showing we can play different ways, dependant upon the opposition, we cut Bradford to shreds out wide, we've bullied Hull down the middle for 40 mins, we're able to look at other sides weakness and exploit that. I'm really positive.

I'm also amazed at this analysis. Our execution in the first half was poor, but even then we were trying to do some interesting things. Hull scored two tries while we were down to 12 men. In the second half we did not play with great flair ( weather may have contributed to that ) but we showed patience, clearly won the forward battle, dominated possession and field position and gradually wore down their dogged defense to score enough points to win - and still defend strongly at the end when we gave them easy possession/position twice in the last five minutes. Bridge had a mixed game but then he was playing fullback/wing/centre alternately so could hardly settle.
Apart from a couple of games 4 or 5 weeks back(i think when Briers was missing) we've always been able to score tries, always been a threat on attack.
Our achilles heel, certainly under Cullen has been poor line defence, and its an improvement in this aspect of the game which will ultimately see us climb the table. Man Utd didnt win the league because of their fantastic attack, it was because of the solid foundations at the back.
A lot of people thought we played well in Edinbugh. For me it was a Cullenesque performance, overall we were poor. We were generally excellent with the ball, but shipped in 38 or so points. This will never get us anywhere.
Last night was a vast improvement. We didnt look great because we sometimes looked lost on attack, but won because we only let in 2 tries. If we can defend on a consistent basis we'll be more than ok.

Good stuff.
Can anyone tell I was a *teency* bit frustrated at half-time?
Its a good change that we are playing with different tactics each game depending on our team and on the opposition..and if plan A in a game doesn't work we have a plan B.
Also players seem to change positions and roles during games. Not quite worked this out yet...but it shows that players and coaches are thinking and growing their games.
