Team For Wigan : Sun Jul 17, 2011 10:52 am
I was listening to the game yesterday on the radio and heard King got stretchered off, Myler limped off but eventually came back on, Clarke went down but was Ok to carry on and Bridge was limping to.

Does anyone know if their all Ok and will they be Ok for next week.

- Hodgson
- Joel
- Atkins
- Bridge
- King
- Briers
- Myler
- Morley
- Monaghan
- Carvell
- L Anderson
- Westwood
- Grix

- Higham
- Harrison
- Solomona
- Blythe/Wood

If King isn't fit for Saturday, I would have Blythe in the centre's and put Cooper on the bench.

Bloody hell, Schofield writes a completely ridiculous one sided article about Wigan, and for once it's in our favour!

And has anyone noticed that the only coaches complaining about young enthusiastic Australians getting british coaching jobs are the crap british coaches who nobody wants anyway?

I wonder what Phil Clarke's opinion is for Saturday?

We will win this one. You can clearly see in the last couple of matches we are aiming for a physical and mental peak for this game next Saturday.

Agreed.

Going back to the start or very early on in the season I recall Smith talking of having a 'plan' of the season, where we need to peak etc, and where we might be a little off in order to be able to peak at these points. I think there's been certain games where we've been like this, Cas away, Hull KR away, Quins away, where without being too rude, we've gone and won the game early doors then gone through the motions in periods.

Smith will be keen to avoid what happened last year, with post CC burnout. Also, the Cup is a slightly sifferent format this year with the fixtures for the QF, SF and final in relatively quick succession, so you'll probably prerpare slightly differently, in that it's QF week, SL game, SF week (assuming you won) etc.

Next week is massive, it's as big of an event that RL in the UK can put on right now, there's no fixture you'd prefer to see. If you can't look foward & excited about this, you as well stop watching RL.

King, Myler and Atkins all fit.

Unsure about Harrison & Moz, but I reckon Moz will make it.

Re: Team For Wigan : Sun Jul 17, 2011 11:02 am
I do not want Matt Blythe anywhere near our 17 for Saturday.

He's getting on my nerves just recently, poor ball retention and sloppy defensive work. I have no problem with him in lesser fixtures, and I know he was excellent at the DW way back when, just right now - not for me.

For us to be 'at our best' on Saturday, it has to be a backline of Brett, Joel, Bridge, Atkins, King, Briers, Myler.

I'll be worried if Blythe is in there, if Williams is in there I'll be a walking heart attack.

Are you not a fan of Atkins or Wood? I'd go with a similar team to yours but with Atkins in centres and King on wing. I'd also have Wood on the bench.

The quotes from the press conference suggest that everyone came through OK. King was the biggest shock but is OK.

- Joel M
- Bridge
- Atkins
- King
- Briers
- Myler

- Monaghan
- Carvell

- Higham
- Harrison

- Wood

That bench is all forwards so maybe put Blythe on bench and have a minor re-shuffle if Smith wants a versatile bench player.
