The club are currently talking to a lot of players and there representatives. So reading reports that we're looking at Fitzgibbon after Leeds have already offered him a contract is his agent using Moran's spending capability to get the best deal possible for his client. Although I wouldn't rule out Warrington involvement. And I fully expect this to keep happening until we announce signings as we have 1 marquee player, Daryl Clark set to leave, a 3rd marquee being introduced, and potentially up to 3 quota spaces being freed up. So you'd think the board would be looking at bringing in 2 high profile NRL players plus another decent work horse type NRL player that won't cost as much. Potentially exciting times at Warrington !!!
So what are the board trying to do ? They're trying to talk Matautia out of his decision to retire at the end of the season and have offered an extension. A poor decision IMO with DP's favourite pupil not being looked at pragmatically. A good player, but one who's at the end of his career. At times this season he's been a defensive turnstile. Not the mentality of a club wanting to win a GF.
I've read on social media some fans surmising that 1 of the marquee's will either be King or Walker with either of them only counting as £50k as a club trained marquee. But I think it would be better to register Williams as a federation trained player costing £100k on the cap, leaving 2 top level NRL players counting as £150k each. By my understanding you can only have 1 club or federation trained marquee, but I may be getting that wrong ?
