This Wire team's players has been rotten to the core for years under Smith (at the end), Price and now Powell. I feel sorry for Powell big-time. One thing I will say is that Powell has a record over many years of improving players and improving every team he's managed. Compare that to the record of our players over the past 6/7/8 years who in the most part have shown complacency, lack of desire and most of all lack of pride in the shirt.
Cooper has been immense for us, but if its true that he's clashing with Powell and not taking on instructions, then Powell has no choice but to get rid. If Cooper and the rest of the side can't accept that things need to change, because evidence clearly indicates things haven't been working for years, then bin the arrogant lot off. Is it any wonder long standing players don't want to change when they can earn plenty of wedge putting a half arsed shift in.
While Cooper puts the effort in on the pitch, he's got absolutely no right to try and start influencing outcomes against the head coach, especially when it's obvious to all that things haven't been working for years. I'm right being Powell because he's trying to do what should have been done over many, many years in trying to change the mentality and culture at the club. Give up on him now and the doors are open to players dictating years of complacency and underachievement when the next coach comes in, and those that follow.
On a side note, it's a shame Currie's contract isn't up this year. I'm sick and tired of his half arsed defensive attitude and lack of concentration. He offers virtually nothing and is symptomatic of the failings in this squad.
