They even managed to erase any record of it from the internet. Amazing.

Undoubtedly very disruptive but the club and the playing squad just have to get on with it. We’ve had today to get heads around it plus three more days to prepare for the Wakefield game during which time Price will need to consider his team with or without Widdop. Question marks over whether or not the game will go ahead due to the weather (gale force winds again). A postponement could be a hinderance as much as a blessing. Positives, another week to train and to get Widdop fit. Negatives, we probably need to get players onto the pitch rather than dwelling on matters.

Do grown adults always go for pitchforks? In this day and age anyone could fabricate any horrific allegation against you online and you'd be powerless until the truth came out. People should bear that in mind. IF this is true (i have no idea) then yes he will be sacked and hopefully face a custodial sentence until then...just behave and have a word with yourself.

And rugby one-upmanship after an alleged domestic violence issue...classy.

In this day and age it's easy to ruins someone career, marriage, public life and friendships with an accusation, to be honest it's to easy.

I don't know what he is accused of, because I am not on facebook and although I am on twitter I have not seen anything about it, only seen what is on here and the "Official Statement" and I am not about to go looking for what he accused of doing because frankly it's not for me to judge him because I do not have all the fact's, and without fact's you cannot judge something.

I have seen it a few times where people are accused of something and they are judged by people to be guilty, loosing friends and jobs only to be proven innocent of what they are accused of but they always have it hanging over there head because people just won't give it up.

Unfortunately in this instance, it's already affected his career and his reputation with the fans without the fact's being presented which is why I won't judge him, and it may be warranted that it's affected it but it also may not be warranted, unless someone who was actually there speaks to the media, which I suspect they won't be allowed to if it's a serious incident then all people have to go off is rumours, rumours which like chinese whispers could have vital information missing.

If proven innocent it's still going to affect his career etc because people will believe it's a cover up and never let it go, but others will forget and move on.

If proven guilty though, I would hope if it's serious enough to warrant a stint behind bars that he receives a sentence befitting of the crime and not given special treatment because of "Celebrity Status" and if it's not befitting of a stint behind bars but deserves sacking or a suspension then he should get what it deserves.

This is the problem with social media, something happens and it spreads like wildfire before anything is known and in this instance brings bad press to the sport and the club.

To be fair you’re quite right about unfounded accusations, there were lots of claims about Escare that never came to be true (I for one don’t believe a conspiracy that a company hid an employees alleged criminal act)

This thing with Gelling has been reported on the tv news, national newspaper websites and Wite themselves have suspended him. I don’t think that this is just smoke....

If this is true and he gets sacked it won't de-rail the club at all, one guy doesn't have that power and if he did the other players would be pretty soft if so. And if it is true theres no guarantee he'll get fired, he'd proberbly go to councelling etc the same as drug users and drink drivers etc

Prem footballers hit the pop, hit the wife, get convicted of rape and child abuse and no-one says it's indicative of a problem with football. It's people, most are idiots and add money, ego, drink and/or drugs and you've got uber idiots.

Gelling, if proved guilty, is another example of cowardly, manipulative cruelty in it's worse form. Not the first, sadly not the last. Throw the book at him, thwn escort him out of professional sport, and civilised society, for good.

In terms of impact on the field, virtually zero. He has been one of the more disappointing aspects of a good start to the season.

Wounding with intent? He'll probably go to prison. (if true/charged etc etc)

But as the club haven't sacked him yet, it might not quite as black and white as it appears.
