I think it's easy to be critical, but they are trying. I mean, Marketing wise, we don't know what budget they have for this year, but you can bet that given the current climate, this is something that has been trimmed this year so they'll be juggling resource a tad.
They've come up with sales promotion activity, somebody mentioned Leeds and a scheme of theirs earlier, well we've done this, the Celtic game was bring a friend for a fiver for season ticket holders etc, so the club are coming up with new initiatives. There seems to have been a lot more PR this year, so they are obviously looking for cheap wins kinda thing.
I think on the marchandise side of things, we could do more. Regardless of results, there's a renewed optimism at the minute, you could cash in on this, but it needs to be now, and of course there'll be an outlay. When Smith arrived, stuff should have been produced, the 'Smith We Trust' or whatever angle, definately. The club could use us, get a cross section of Warrington fans and basically say 'What would you buy/wear/stick in your car', kinda a focus group, quirky stuff, T-Shirts with Smith & a slogan perhaps, light hearted stuff like, like the 'Penny T-Shirts' which sold well & quickly. In a weird way, right now, he's what we all believe in, more than any player, the club, anything, it's Smith. So he'd be the most likely person you'd spend your cash on right now, sort of thing, be it, a car sticker for a couple of quid.
