Walker should be the 9, maybe let Ratchford step in for 5-10 minutes per half if he needs a break.

It’s Ratchford who we should wrap up in cottonwool, not Walker.

I didn't mention wrapping anyone in cotton wool, I'm talking about who is going to give us the best performance over 80 minutes.

I'd be happy with Walker doing the 80. It's the rotation at 13 that I'm more worried about unless Philbin can do close to the 80 minutes. I suppose Minikin can cover centre from the bench allowing Peanut to cover 13.

Plus 1.

I’m not the greatest fan of a 9 being spelled, never have been. Only spell them if they are showing fatigue.

Hope we see Doolan on Saturday. If Walker gets injured, it would need a massive upheaval in the shape. Be interesting how he would go especially as it is possible we may lose Daryl next year.

Re: Darryl Clark : Mon Apr 24, 2023 9:56 am
Think they mentioned on commentary on Thursday night that Walker had displaced Clark as the best 9 at the club. Not sure that's quite the case yet but Walker was one of the few to come out of Thursday night with some positives.

Clark will be 31, Walker 24 at the start of next season, both will want decent game time, much may depend on whether Clark will be happy with a dual role long term, will he be happy playing 30 mins at 9 and 20 mins at 13 and will Walker be happy only getting 50 mins a week?

If Clark does stay, you'd have to think it would be on reduced terms, we need to free up some space for a couple of high quality centres in 2024.

Re: Darryl Clark : Mon Apr 24, 2023 10:06 pm
Hate to say it but Clark seems to be constantly picking up injuries. Could just be a run of bad luck or his body saying i can't keep doing this. Would hate to see him leave but Wouldn't be unhappy with Walker at 9, but who would then be our rotational/back up hooker if he did leave?

I don’t think Clark is getting any more injuries than any other period, however, it is taking him longer to rid them.
