Not a TV game but I see Hull lost to the abject Cas side we hammered last week.

Just me, or does anyone else look on a bit enviously at Hull? Big club, big city, good fanbase, but rather than hammer themselves (and get hammered) for every year of dire underachievement, they just treat it with a shrug and repeat the trick the next year. It seems to go completely unnoticed that Smith lost interest in rugby after the 2016 season.

It must be much healthier than the soul-searching we do after every defeat.

I have often looked at Hull FC and drawn comparisons between them and ourselves. We both moved in to our "sexy" new stadia at around the same time. Then they were a bit ahead of us in winning a challenge cup final and getting to a grand final in mid 2000's. Since then they have lifted the challenge cup another couple of times.

They had that period under Radford where they tried to replicate the massive Bradford team by going for a huge pack with Huge wingers but that wasn't very attractive to watch as after about 20 mins they would just let Sneyd kick for touch to give the big boys a breather. I don't think that was ever going to get them a GF win.

They have made some mistakes in the transfer market (eg Connor and Westerman). Then they have had a number of ex NRL halfback experiments with the likes of Kelly, Josh Reynolds, Brett Seymour and Jake Clifford but nowhere near as many as us and similar they have had a number of players leave part way into their contract.

I am also pretty sure that there are a lot of fans that get pretty annoyed at performances. I don't think there is any real difference in that department. If they are a bit more chilled about underperformance then good on them. Maybe that is healthier for the soul.

Take a look on the Hull FC Fans Forum, and you will see a different opinion with regards to their position

Another season of mediocrity at Hull FC will hurt, but the rise of HKR (who have a very good, ambitious coach and are building well for next year) will be equally galling.

Place is a hotbed of RL, they will be seething don't worry. Leeds are another set of fans who will be shaking their heads in despair, but at least have recent glories to reflect on.

Maybe us, Hull and Leeds should merge. Probably still wouldn't win the big one but the post-defeat threads would be the stuff of internet legend.

It really annoys me how the basic laws of the game are ignored these days ,offsides. forward passes & moving off the mark, when it suits the whim of the ref. Teams are winning by cheating but i'm sure a few early penalties for cheating in games would put the ref's stamp on the games.
