Never heard of something like this.
All abandoned matches are usually replayed.
I wonder what the authorities rationale was.
Got to say I think it's a bit of a joke.
Should be a full replay.

Once again the 'greatest sport in the world(tm)' looks like a shambles.

The only good that can come from it is Giants win it.

It's not a shambles; it is a pragmatic fix to a poor initial situation, I.e. Leigh being unable to stage a fixture competently. No reason why either side should have to play a full 80 minute game when there was nothing wrong with the first 48 minutes played on Friday night.

It might be pragmatic and it might not be a shambles BUT you'd have thought there was a law governing this type of incident.

Will this now set a precedent for any future games being abandoned for whatever reason ?

It is sensible to have flexible laws. If two teams are local-ish to one another and can crack later on the same day, good to have that flexibility. If Workington are playing Catalans you need a different solution. Similarly if one team is winning 40-0 and the game is abandoned in the 75th minute you would want a different approach. I bet none of us could agree on a blanket rule that would be fair in every scenario.

If so, it is a good precedent that the game will be played in full from where it left off. You could well imagine one of the more traditionally unsporting and classless teams (*coughs and looks to the North west*) exploiting a blanket rule that made it advantageous to get a game abandoned.

Totally with you on this. Some are going to moan whatever the decision. Why shouldn't the team that was ahead when the game was abandoned have an advantage? Someone had to make a decision.
