He's right, though. In 2001, we beat every top 4 side in the SL at Wilderspool, but still didn't look anywhere near a side that could challenge for honours.
It's not secret that 'Wigan week' has often been the biggest week of the year for Warrington players in terms of preperation and 'getting up' for the match. It has for so long been a different story when it comes to Castleford week, or Huddersfield week.
One thing that I really liked was Che Smith's interview where he said, for him and - he hopes - the players, this is just another week and next week it is time to do it all over again. In the past, we have seen coaches churn out wins against Wigan as a measure of success/progress, whereas Smith addresses it as two points on the table - the same amount you get for beating any other team. Fantastic!
Going back to Phil Clarke, he has always been full of praise for the way Warrington have played an open and expansive brand of Rugby, certainly since 2003, when I vividly remember his delight at a try we scored against Widnes; he did similar last night when Riley went over in the corner.
