The improvement is there for all to see,now that Smith has his feet under the table, but the worrying fact is that some players are being played out of position and it shows.Bridge is a hb,not fullback/winger/2nd rower or whatever and Monaghan is a hooker ffs.

Hull fc are a mess atm, mainly due to the manager playing Cullen type rl,we'll get a better indication of how far we've come, when we play Cas in a few weeks.A team who are of similar ability to ourselves.

Bridge is a very average half-back, as he does not have the temperament to steer a team round the park. He is starting to look like a good centre, though. Last night, the whole set of backs were moving around to cover for each other depending on the situation.

Briers had an awesome 2nd half. His kicking game won us the game repeatadly getting us repeat sets. We played crap and still won, and the defence was awesome, especailly under the amount of pressure in the last 5/6 minutes. They only scored 2 tries and that was when we were down to 12 men.

Some good points here, but City Wolf has completely missed the point. I'm not saying that because we won everything in the garden is rosy. What I am simply saying is, 'show your team some support.' As someone else said, I wouldn't mind 20 wins like that in a season. This site has become very negative. Look on the bright side, we've got a good stadium, we're in far better financial shape than most other teams, our Youth Development is really coming along and will eventually bear fruit, and we're slowly but surely starting to get things right on the field.
To answer some of the negatives on this thread, there are two reasons why support wasn't good last night. We've just had a weekend at Edinburgh, Les Catalans weekend is approaching, and the events of 2005 at Hull have put a lot of people off ever going there again.

I haven't missed the point at all. I'm simply pointing out that we're still a long way from where we want to be.

Things are definately improving but it's really not worth getting carried away.

It was a pretty poor game all around but Warrington would have lost that game a few months ago. Our offence just didn't fire; it was strange to see Monaghan take the lead in the first half (but having an absolute shocker; back to his lack of passing ability again; who said the Aussies have better skills?) whilst Briers was anonymous. Second half Briers stepped up and we improved but it is looking increasingly likely that these two cannot work as a pairing.

Other negatives; Louis Anderson is an absolute liability. I actually thought 'don't give him the ball' when we needed to see the game out and he dropped the ball not once, but twice. FFS.

Other positives; Richie Mathers was a star when we were struggling. Carvell and Morley were titanic. Bridge showed good utility value. Higham was lively at a key time. Westwood was very disciplined.

It was a good result, there's still things to work on but it was a heck of a lot better than some of the performances we have seen this year.

Doesn't make us SL GF winners but it's a step in the right direction.

Plus IF we beat the pies on Friday by about 60 points we go above them in the table lol (not done maths for exact figure)

we were also missing a fair few players we had part of our pack filling out the back line in fact from the start of the season only monnas and Briers would have been in our best 17,you should give credit where credit is due we won it wasn't a pretty victory but I guess we will save that for next week ,well played to the players who played tonight our goal line defence was better and they didn't threaten us apart from the 10 mins when Carvell was off and that was a very harsh call from Gashson .

Couldn't agree more, i was having this chat with somebody at the game and the turnout from the Warrington fans was disgraceful, especially when you consider the amount of tripe that gets put on this forum about getting behind and supporting the team. Let's face it Hull's only 2 hours up the road, there is plenty of coach travel at reasonable prices and still only about 350 max shown up.

On another note a win is a win and it's 2 points on the board, regardless of who was injured for both teams and how inexperienced the players were, we won away to Hull FC and people are still not happy. Ive said it once and ill say it again were a club going through some big changes and you have to take the rough with the smooth but for god sake be happy with the smooth. All you guys moaning about the performance want to get up of your chairs and start to attend some games.

The game last night was a strange one as at the game I thought it was a fantastic win. The whole second half (apart from 3 brain-farts after we finally went in front) we just seemed to batter Hull. Totally dominating them field-position wise to the extent where Mathers was becoming a "Minichelloesque-ball-magnet" for Hull kicks and we were starting our six consistently on the half-way line.

It was like everything that we have ever craved; machine-like, dominating march towards an inevitable victory against a team whom we have no right to expect to turnover at their place. I couldn't wait to watch the tape (I know videos are so 20th century but at least we have a VHS now the betamax has given up the ghost) so headed home double smart-time only to be under-whelmed by the averageness of the match. I guess the lesson is an away win is all the better when you are there to see it.

As for our away suppoert, whilst the numbers from Warrington weren't massive there were many more than went last year and it is surely some time since we can have had anything but an embarassing claim to be the self-proclaimed "best fans in Super League"
