| Quote FireWire="FireWire"Yeah and he's definately capable of playing both positions due to his size.
IMO he's not the most skilful of players, so his fearsome defence and strong running make him better suited to the second row.
Verdict: a decent signing, but not world class.

Only Lyon out of those foreigners was 'world class' in his Saints stint, and I think that shown by him getting a call up to the Aussie squad. But Gidley, Puletua and Pryce, world class? Good, but I think the term world class is way over-used, especially when describing players in SL.

You don't rate Matt Gidley? He's been dominant in SL throughout his spell here and it is open for debate whether he has been better than Jamie Lyon was.

Of course I rate him, but world class?
IMO, world class players do it every week against world class opposition. Greg Inglis, Folau, Hodges etc. are world class. I just don't think coming over to SL and doing really well makes a player world class, if he was he'd be in the Aussie side like Lyon was.
He's certainly not the best centre in the world betty, subscribe to Setanta and watch a bit of the NRL, then you'll see the best centres in the world.

I mean they're just off the top of my head. Gidley in his day was an awesome player, and he's still good now, but it's clear at his age and playing in our comp, he's not the best player in the world in his position.

I'm not saying that there are any who are much better at the moment, just pointing out that he isn't awesome. Dare i say, on his day, Gleeson is comparable if not better.

You make it out as though we're the bee's knees of rugby league, are we heck. Gidley had his career and he proved himself in Aus for over a decade, he came to England to finish his career off. Most of them do it and they don't do it to come over here and prove themselves to people like you, if you watch them at all you would know if they were world class by watching them in the hardest RL competition around; the NRL. Some of them also play Origin, you should watch it sometime.
