This year's team is capable of making the final, as we may only have to win 1 game agaianst SL opposition, 2 at most, although I would expect us to get toasted by Saints in the final - but at least it's a good day out.
Having said that with 'days out' like Edinburgh and Barcelona already on the cards, it's not a bad season for trips.
Not bothered about the 8 this year as we stand zero chance of doing anythuing when we get there. It's more important that Smith gets to see the team in matches like the one on Friday, so that he can fully evaluate them, and make the right decisions on who to keep at the end of the season.
Yep, would accept a CC final on the basis of our current form. Shows how expectations are dropping I suppose.
If and a big if we can get to the final, should be a good day out/weekend. Going off the Wigan defeat in 90 we still still enjoyed the occasion even though we got thumped that day.
Naturally the Saints fans were on autopilot (as per) but still, .
TBH the teams we have played in the final recently were gash so its hard to get up for it. Even Hull when they played us were in the bottom 3 of the league. As a saints fan I wouldnt even get excited about going to Wembley unless we were playing Leeds, Wire or Wigan.
Having been to every challenge cup final since 1995 bar a couple i get envious of all fans wishing it was us but maybe this year!!!!!
Especially hurts when so called smaller teams Hull, London, Catalans, Huddersfield, Sheffield have got to the final and Hull & Sheffield even won it (thinks its a John Kear thing)

I wouldn't class Hul as a smaller team but to be honest our draws in the cup haven't been favourable in recent years apart from the Hull KR draw when we totally underestimated them. Can't remember the years but over the last decade we have gone out of the cup to teams who were far superior in the league.
i.e. Saints (number of times), Leeds, Bradford (number of times). Only exception was semi against Wigan when we were favourites and blew it again.
If we get the win again Fev and get a another decent draw and avoid Saints especially, then we stand as good a chance of getting to the final. Still we will have to raise the game whoever we play.
I'd definately take that scenario, its not like we stand a chance of getting to the GF and the other 'days out' this season don't have the same meaning as Wembley, they're just ridiculous RFL cash-ins. *stating the obvious!*
So yes, Cup Final please!
