Powell is the man with the job, but he's yet to prove he's the man for the job. Time will tell.

Perhaps it would be prudent to wait for the upturn to produce a consistent run of performances and wins before they hog the morale high ground.

We were spiralling out of control - the look of relief on Powell's face was as clear as that on any supporter.

This.

I wonder how many weeks some fingers have been hovering over the virtue signalling button.

I think I’ve changed my mind about 50 times this season in regards to Powell. The real threat of relegation was edging me towards wanting him out. Relegation should no longer be a threat and Powell by his own admission has a great side next season. I think we should be cemented in the top 3 next year or he’s in trouble.

I think we all agree we want him to be successful.

There's a long way to go but there were some definite shoots of recovery yesterday. Please could you enlighten me on any points/sentences that you found sanctimonious. I've directly responded to a couple who thought I was an idiot backing Powell, and I've every right to tbh. But as I say, please enlighten me - some examples would be handy.

Even though it's one result, it's interesting that no one from the Powell out camp (I haven't seen anyone yet) has said that perhaps they're wrong and perhaps it may be better sticking with him.

It seems to me, that rather than admit to possibly changing their mind - ie. he should perhaps stay - some people would rather have a pop at the people who backed him in order to save face.

I'm certainly not saying I'm right either, it's one game, it could still end in disaster, who knows.

Last week there was only you backing him really gw. There is a long thread on here about Powell out but the posts on there were fairly balanced, lots either suggesting it's too soon for this talk or sitting on the fence you can see by the weeks that the optimism was starting to slide. Open support was dwindling as a lot (me included) were starting to lose faith, I reckon I had until the end of the month before I was broken. Lose the next 3 and most lots will be upset against, for me there is credit in the bank now we know we have performances in the team, although it's a bit pointless without consistency.

I don't care if we don't make the playoffs this season to be honest (I think we have given ourselves a bit too much to do) but I do want to see some signs that we can compete and look like a proper team before the season is out, yesterday was a massive boost to the whole club, I feel a lot better now and I'm sure most do. A relegation battle in my eyes would be unacceptable and we aren't totally clear of that unless we back up yesterday's performance with some more of the same.

I think most posts were balanced and it was a really good debate. No one is right or wrong either, it was just one game and with a long way to go. I'm just having a little pop at a small few who tried to make out that I was an idiot for supporting him.

Also, I'm still awaiting any illustration of posts I've sanctimoniously put up, bar one directed at Wolfhall which deserved a response in kind.

Plenty on here backing the Powell with the "its a big job give him time/wait until next season" line.

Nothing has been proven yet. We still have to wait to next season to see if we are genuine contenders. However we can enjoy the win and be reasonably comfortable that we wont be relegated.
