If you can play the system to win from 5th how come Leeds are the only team that were able to do it and usually the team who finishes 1st or 2nd wins the Grand Final?

My point is that Leeds - and only them iirc - knew how to do it.
That combination of coaching staff and players.
They were able to consistently pull it all together when it mattered.

Fair play to them.

The Daily Telegraph in Australia reporting that we interviewed Holbrook yesterday afternoon.

Then there's mention of Griffin and O'Brien.... Please god no..they really are average coaches.... That's when the Warrington need for all things NRL becomes too much ... Would accept Morgan because he's been here, had some success and not likely to get homesick at the first sign of rain

If we are going Australian then I'd sooner we had a young, ambitious sort, who is basically using us as a stepping stone for better things in the NRL at a later date - it's why Michael Monaghan appeals in a way.

One huge proviso though is that I'd like to see an experienced British director of Rugby appointed alongside him and I'd be inclined to go all Duckie and get someone like John Kear or Brian Noble to do the job.

Kear and Noble are tge 2 names i thought of as a director for us awell, both i feel are suited for that.
I think Holbrook will stay in Australia, if the Bulldogs want him as an assistant i think he will take that rather than uproot back to the UK.

No doubt our interest in Holbrooke will get him a better deal in Oz.

I think i would steer clear of anyone who wants the Wire as a stepping stone to a better gig in Aus & steer clear of any sub standard panic buys who might destroy the club completely.

These are desperate times for us & we need a committed & effective coach to get us out of the hole we are in.

Read a cracking rumour in the last few days.

Allegedly, JH made a very good friend whilst over here before.

If he does return, keep the starlights away!

Aussies, whether players or coaches, come to our league for one of two reasons - They are either using us as a stepping stone to better things in their superior and better paid league, or they are here for a pension top up, because they can't get a decent deal in the NRL.

Personally, if we are going the Aussie route, I'd sooner take the former over the latter.

I'd sooner have a young, ambitious coach or player that gives us great service for 1 or 2 years, than one who contributes mediocrity for 3 or 4 like Price did.

Technically wasn’t Price a young and ambitious coach? My choice would be an experienced NRL coach for 2 years to put things in place and a no.2 brought in now to be groomed for an eventual take over. Holbrook & Monas or Briers would be perfect.
