Whether the sentence is correct or not, remember that, at this moment in time Stuart Reardon has not job and is a convicted criminal. I'm sure he's related to avoid prison but his life is hardly a bed of roses.

It will amount to nothing. When he can't get an ambulance chasing firm interested and a real lawyer advices him of the costs of taking a civil litigation right through to court against the deeper pockets of WWRLFC balanced against the chances of success, he'll think again.

Interesting to know if its breach of contract or some sort of failure of duty of care in some way relating to his injury.
