I've heard that Currie is "ripping it up" in training.

I can only hope for his sake, the IT is his contract extension.

This is it in a nutshell. There is absolutely no reason why we should not expect and demand better. This isn't 1985 with us training part time on Loushers Lane with a shoestring budget.

When you see prop forwards in Hill and Philbin with the last tackle attacking kick, you know something is very wrong. Almost as wrong as letting a 34 year Rob Burrow run 75 meters from dummy half to score without the pace to catch him.

What worries me as well is that Smith had no explanation and seemed to have little comprehension or idea of why we performed like that.

Saints fans didn't know when they released Cunningham of his duties. They appointed an interim management structure and assessed applications and contacted the agents. No reason why we could not do the same. You don't need to have the solution before you remove the problem.

I see two possibilities here,

1. The tales of recurring dressing room bust ups between coaches who demand style A of rugby, and players who want to play style B.

2. The players have realised that top four is beyond them and are saving it for the challenge cup.

And no doubt niggling in the background is the vast amount of cap awarded to a certain few non performing players, coupled with the fact that certain players know they won't be retained next season.

What a mess.

Who cares who comes in now? So what if it's Agar to move to head coach? We're going backwards with Smith but we're not bad enough to go down, so take the gamble; get rid and see what happens with the remainder of our season being risk free. Worst case scenario we get another average coach for next year. At least we'd have tried something.
