Let me ask you a question
The Wigan team that is top of the league and has played two props light all season (Fielden & O'Carroll) and now has Prescott with a hamstring injury, do you think it is good business to bring in an experienced prop at this stage of the season as cover?

If not why not.

haha they're all at it.

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

Re: Worriers getting excited : Tue Jul 12, 2011 3:17 pm
You are including Crosby and Davies who are decent players but are not yet at Superleague level. In fact I think Davies may leave, he hasn't progressed as well as we thought he would.

Coley is playing on knees that are as bad as mine (and I'm 62) so the Cross signing was a sensible move as I said all along. Just give him a chance before throwing the daggers.

One thing, Maguire won't pick him because of his past reputation, that isn't the way he works. Cross will have to earn his place, even if he is only filling in to give players a rest.

The games we have struggled this season have been where we have had three props, so the Cross signing does make sense.

It's great that the Wire obsession with Wigan is still alive and well.

I mean, this whole a coach signing a player that they know from previous to plug a gap that was problematic at a club due to injuries etc, this is nothing like the Mathers signing that we were pilloried for is it, just so that we're clear.

May I be the first, 'Bloody 'ell Cross !'

They were included by a Wigan fan on your board, so some people obviously think they are ready. I'd have thought that you would welcome players being brought into the starting line up through the academy rather than signing an over the hill Aussie prop.

When? I've only seen him getting flopped by Ben and staggering off the pitch.

I'll guarantee that the majority haven't seen Crosby and Davies as much as I have. Cross has been signed as back up.
Maybe Fielden won't play again this season, I honestly don't know. And I don't know how bad Prescotts hamstring is.
The Cross signing was an easy decision particularly as he had already worked with Maguire at Melbourne.

AS I said Maguire WONT just pick Cross on his past reputation, he'll have to prove himself, I can't see a downside, can you?

Would of love to see your reaction if we had signed a 32yo Aussie booted out by a poor Leeds team instead of giving our own youth a chance.

One wonders..
