Rau Power Wins the Day At Salford
Warrington Wolves warmed up for the new Super League season with a 22-18 comeback victory over Salford City Reds.
Paul Cullen's near full-strength side went ahead when Ben Westwood sent Martin Gleeson over for the opening try after just four minutes.
Chris Bridge added Warrington's extras, but Stuart Littler then scored for Salford and John Wilshere converted to level matters at 6-6 going into the break.
Adam Sidlow and Phillip Leuluai both scored converted tries after the restart as the Reds forged their way into an 18-6 lead with 25 minutes remaining at the Willows.
But three tries in a nine-minute spell from Andy Bracek, Jon Clarke and Paul Rauhihi and two conversions from Chris Bridge spared Warrington's blushes.
Wolves got their first glimpse of Chris Hicks who came on in the 60th minute, other noteworthy performances were that of Paul Rauhihi and Steve Pickersgill who both put in powerful performances in the pack.
However, a poor completion rate in the first half showed there is still work to do before the 'real-thing' begins in 12 days time when the Wolves entertain Hull FC on Friday 8th February, kick off 7.30pm, in front of the Sky Sports Camera's.
