The best part of this deal is that irritating gonad's complete U turn on his his appraisal of Cross from the rumour thread a while back and the Offical thread today.
22nd June.
Today.
I totally accept it. But if you read my other posts instead of picking ones out... you will see that we didn't need a prop at the time.. Prescott and Coley were still fit and I also accept that I was looking at his time in Leeds rather than the NRL.
Or is it just too radical that I have changed my view on a player?
2 years ago I thought Pryce had a chance at Wigan... now I think he will never make it.
There was a time when wire fans wanted shut of Matt King.... views change.
I was being one-eyed in my view and I looked at the bigger picture and realised he would be a good player for our squad.
Shock horror. The situation has changed since than, therefore so has my view. If we had a fully fit front row... I wouldnt go near him. But we don't.
To compare your complete U-turn on a player within 3 weeks, to the situation with Matt King, is just clutching at straws, and, WRONG.
Let's not forget, King still had shown SOME good form in his previous 14 months with us - pre Smith Cross has "stunk the house out" since his arrival in the country
Yes, Cross must have been a decent player for the triple Grand Final winners to buy him, but his form is going to need a comeback of Lazarus (not Glenn) proportions.

Yes it is a little different but the situation has changed in those weeks. My views have changed with it. I stand by those views now if we didn't have an injury, we simply wouldn't need him.
The thing I was wrong about was his time at Leeds, I was looking at that and not his previous time in the NRL where he was superb.
Like I say on our board though, our coaching staff turned Fielden back around, they can do the same with Cross.

The ONLY thing that changed your opinion on this player is that your club signed him.
Correct, because we NEED him. Prescott and Fielden are both injured and Coley is not fully fit. O'Carroll is not back so he can't fill in and Hock has only just returned. Crosby and Davies are not quite ready yet.
He could have signed for wire or saints, I don't care, his experience in the NRL and at Origin speaks for itself. Clearly I was taking more notice of his time at Leeds.
It's great how you are all talking like you have never changed your view on something though. Do you pick an opinion and stick to it all your life? Or can you see another side to a debate and get torn?
Have I broken some rules by changing my view or something

A lot of teams beat us, do a lap of honour and don't stop running. They live too long on one good result. I remember Jimmy Adamson crowing after Burnley had beaten us once and that his players were in a different league. At the end of the season they were.

He hasn't played since your first comment as far as I'm aware, for you to alter your judgement on him, unlike the Pryce and King case you use to promote your reasoning and the only thing that has happened between the times of your comments are that he's signed for Wigan, your club.
I'm sorry, but a clearer case of myopic and biased views doesn't exist.
