Well done Kev. I feel confident with my prediction he'll be in the running for MOS.

Looked good behind an international pack playing France.... FRANCE.

MOS? Give your head a wobble.

I don't think Kev Brown is as bad as some people on this board make him out to be. In the same breath i don't think he is as good (MOS contender) as some others think he is. I think the reality lies somewhere between the two.

OK Kevin Brown.....

he isn't the worst player we've had,and I hope he has a great season for us, and I have no desire to be part of a boo boys campaign towards him...BUT:

he has a limited to zero long kicking game.
he has limited to good short kicking game
his creativity is limited to zero
his handling is good to better
his passing is good to better with the occasional telegraphed intercept pass available.
his organisational skills are good to better.
he can take the line on close to the line and score the occasional try (mainly against Widnes)
he has slow pace.

Luke Gale won Man of Steel this year because (even if hes not your cup a tea ) he was better to best in all those categories.
George Williams is better to best in some of those categories.

that quick description of Kevin Brown in My opinion (and no one else has to agree)makes him an average player and gives several reasons why he wont win MOS.
playing behind a better pack wont give him pace he never had and creativity he never had.

Lee Briers played behind many a beaten pack yet somehow managed to overtake Brian Bevan as our leading points scorer......

Brian Bevan. :BEAT: :BEAT: :BEAT:

I'm not a Kev Brown fan but no denying he was much better at 6 than Williams and potentially having him there, Gale at 7 and Widdop at fullback seemed to work.

I hope our pack show up this year. Brown won't have all the responsibility of creating tries as we have Roberts for most of that. Brown's distribution is top notch, even if that is his only 'excellent' attribute.

What I'd give for a Hodgson at the back though.*

*EDIT: Brett not Josh*

Re: Kevin Brown : Mon Nov 13, 2017 11:15 am
I completely agree that Brown will be much improved next season, but I expect the same for every one of our players.

That's what happens under the renewed vigor brought about by a coaching change plus a handful of new arrivals.

Brown wasn't poor last season simply because of our pack. There were a number of reasons.

I expect he will play better next season mainly because of:

* New head coach (bringing new structure, renewed impetus & motivation to the whole team).
* Partnering him with a top class NRL import to lighten the load.

I think nailing 100% of Brown's failings last season / improvement in an England shirt on the pack alone is incorrect.

Doesn't matter what he does at International level, he has to do it regularly for us before he gets any plaudit's

I don't say he'll win it...however for a hb at arguably the richest and one of the biggest clubs in RL...33/1 is a very big price.
My thoughts would be he ought to have been a 14/1 or 16/1 tops.
