Re: Chris Hill Take a bow : Sat Jun 09, 2012 9:53 am
I was really impressed last night and he backed up my thought that he should have been on the England bench for the exiles game. I would have had all 3 of Mossop, Hill and Crabtree playing with Peacock to see which of them are ready to step up and take his place from the end of this season because I'd use these 2 exiles matches as a swansong for Peacock at the international level. There's no way he can be a realistic option for the 2013 world cup and guys like Graham and Sam Burgess will need to step in to the role of pack leaders.

The good thing about Hill is that he's just going to get better as he gets more full time pre seasons under his belt and puts good weight on.

It's been fun.

Re: Chris Hill Take a bow : Sat Jun 09, 2012 10:09 am
If you recall on the England thread on the pie board i said Chris Hill should be in the squad, to which i received a barage of ridicule, obviously not from yourself (you're actually a decent poster NK). Easily our stand out forward this season playing in a team in 2nd place playing nowhere near their potential.

Posting somehting like that on the Wigan board was asking to be shot down.... you may as well have drawn a big target on your head. The majority of them have never left their town, let alone realised other clubs have good players too.

The first rule of rugby league messageboards is that no player who has never played for Wigan can be compared to a Wigan player of past or present, even indirectly (ie. player x should play for England, when a Wigan player is available).

With Mcbananna as coach nothing surprises me on selection he's a grade one Muppet !
Hill is one of the best forwards in SL a country mile ahead of a washed up Peacock ! How Hill isn't in any England Squad is beyond belief but that's Mcbananna for you !
Hill will become the hottest property English forward in SL in the future this being his first full time season shows how good he is ! Mossop at pie land will be in his pocket like Fielden was with Moz ! In fact I'd say pies have nothing closely as good as Hill now who's English !

That's a ridiculous biased post. Mossop is a quality forward and comfortably ahead of Hill due to the minutes he has played at the highest level. Hill should be in the squad and will (in my opinion) be an international player for years to come but he's not ahead of Mossop yet. Last night was like a throwback to years gone by the way hill was taking the ball in on the burst rather than the flat passes our forwards usually receive. It was great to watch.

Mossop Crabtree Hill Carvell, even a fit Morley and Prescott (amongst others), are ahead of Peacock now. This is without even mentioning Sam Burgess and James Graham. Peacock is arguably not in the current top dozen English props.

I cannot get over how much he's been completely dominated in the last two games. The Exiles will run all over him next week.

All this flat passing does my cake in...no wonder there is so much ball going to ground .

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity

Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

Funnily enough Chris is from W1g4n, he was on the pies scholarship but dropped when he refused to move to St Pats preffering to stay at New Springs with his mates, he has been SL quality for the last 2 seasons, he has picked up the pace of SL quicker than I thought he would, he deserves everything he can achieve in the game, he is a genuine nice bloke ( no longer the great ' kid ' we have had the pleasure of watching at Leigh ) who I hope remains with you and wins a heap of medals and International accolades

Chris Hill is a fitness instructor and has been for a good few years and this has helped him make the pace of superleague look like a seamless transition
