Hasn't some (or most I would imagine) of the funding for this come from that objective 1 thing? The North West region was awarded over £1.8 billion of Structural Funds in the 2000 – 2006 programming period. These Funds were administered by the Government Office for the North West in partnership with key strategic organisations in the region and have helped create new jobs and economic prosperity within the region. http://www.gos.gov.uk/gonw/EuropeanFunding/ Granted that was up to 2006 but it's plain we get quite a bit of cash here.

Incidentally the Sintellins staute look like something a lady might buy in Ann Summers.

I pass it every day and it`s, let`s say, crap. But as for the money, it wouldn`t have been spent on anything else but art, so to mention hospitals ets... is futile. As for the forgotton Birchwood `Angel of the North`, that is a telephone mast that was tarted up not a work of art
