Not just to look at. Good old Steve in action here.

Speculate to accumulate.

I bet business investors looking to relocate would have appreciated business loans or a relaxation of business rates to the tune of £1.3M instead?

Anyway I had a prior dealing with the NWDA at the Xpdia wireless development centre in Cinnamon Brow. The things I could tell you about how they squandered money would make you sick. If only the people n the public sector were as good as generating income revenues as they are at spending tax revenues.

Hasn't some (or most I would imagine) of the funding for this come from that objective 1 thing?

The North West region was awarded over £1.8 billion of Structural Funds in the 2000 – 2006 programming period. These Funds were administered by the Government Office for the North West in partnership with key strategic organisations in the region and have helped create new jobs and economic prosperity within the region.

http://www.gos.gov.uk/gonw/EuropeanFunding/

Granted that was up to 2006 but it's plain we get quite a bit of cash here.

Ah here we go.

The Objective 1 Programme for Merseyside represented a £2.5 billion investment programme aimed at restructuring it’s economy and restoring prosperity with the help of over £922 million of European Structural Funds alongside UK Government and private sector resources.

Aha people power (well not really)!

Incidentally the Sintellins staute look like something a lady might buy in Ann Summers.

I pass it every day and it`s, let`s say, crap. But as for the money, it wouldn`t have been spent on anything else but art, so to mention hospitals ets... is futile. As for the forgotton Birchwood `Angel of the North`, that is a telephone mast that was tarted up not a work of art

I thought they sold it to Saracens so they could mark the retirement of Andy Farrell with a fitting tribute.

I would never buy anything from Ann Summers that looked like Keiron Cunningham.
