No he isn't. He's a decent fella (look at what he's done with the Heritage Museum). His "character" on TV is just that - a character to spice up the TV coverage. People love to say he talks rubbish, and OK sometimes he does, but most of the time he's not far off and this article is pretty good.

he's actually a really nice guy - I won't tell you details of how i met him and what he did for a friend of mine, but for me, from my first hand experience of him, he is a top bloke
also i think pretty much everything he wrote is spot on
