We're the first ones to starve, we're the first ones to die
The first ones in line for that pie-in-the-sky
And we're always the last when the cream is shared out
For the worker is working when the fat cat's about

I personally feel that some of our deep-rooted problems are caused by the English born players.

Agreed, but we can't just keep on putting the Andersons, Briers, Monaghan out there. Surely Tyrone McCarthy should replace one of the Andersons this week. And let's at least show either Briers or Monaghan that they must shape up. I'm a bit torn on King. I wouldn't have him at centre but think we should play both Riley and Penny.

I think my team would be....

Hicks
Riley
Gleeson
Grix
Penny
Bridge
Briers
Morley
Clarke
Cooper
Mitchell
Johnson
McCarthy

Higham
Rau
Pickersgill
AN Other (maybe King)

I understand the sentiment of this post but it wouldn't work. The team would loose heavilly and all that skill, team spirit and pride would disappear in a depression of lost confidence.

If the answer was just to change the whole team then why would we need a coach? Why were we so sure that Lowes (and before that Cullen) were not up to the job and that we needed a change.

Tony Smith has been brought in to do a job and this will take time. Team spirit is built up on and off the park. It 's his job to identify what the real issues are, put plans in place to correct it and then ensure that they are followed. The plans may involve dropping players, instilling discipline, geeing players up, changing tactics, selling players or bringing in new backroom staff.

Whatever he does he is not a magician and it will take time. I'm gutted at the position we've found ourselves in but I think it has been building for quite a while and to expect it to be righted over night is just silly. I do want it to be sorted now, but it won't be.

As fans we've got what we wanted, an experienced coach with a reputation as a disciplinarian. Lets give him some time to work at the problems and to get them sorted.

Luckily with the franchise system we can't be relegated but each hammering hurts and we all hate it. We hate being laughed at as the moneybags underachievers, but at the moment that's what we are. We'll have to grin and bear it. Watch or don't watch the choice is down to each individual fan and I don't think any can be criticised on how they choose to react to it.

One things for sure though even if you don't go you'll still care and eventually you'll come back! Once a Wire always a Wire.

Absolutely agree. That is why I only named the ones who I feel have earned their spots so far this season.

I am a bit split on the Andersons. Personally I feel that Louis is one of the hardest working players in the team, he is regularly towards the top of the tackle count, but he is still young and learning. I am less forgiving of Vinnie.

I don't disagree with your selections, and whilst I would have a few different names, the team you name is a long way off naming the 2nd team in place of Saturday's 17.

I don't think now is the time for knee-jerk reactions with a new manager, but he does need to make a stance. I think your team means around 6 changes which surely would send the message that Smith means business.
