Monaghan : Sat May 23, 2009 9:28 am
Well done, not sure he deserved MOM. Just watching the game again when he got injured on 45 mins.

Well done for playing on afterwards. Well done to all players (including Wigan) for assissting him when he was out. (although you probably shouldn't have moved him). It is things like that which make RL a great sports

The Monaghan puzzle has got me at the minute. He got MOM yet at the game I thought he was pretty poor, so I've come home and watched it again, and I still think he was pretty poor, yet there's folk I know who think he had a blinder. Don't get me wrong, there's loads of effort, but in terms of craft & guile as a halfback, he still takes too many bad options and runs poor lines for me.

He's better than he was, and some of the good stuff in the second half certainly involved him, but i'm still not really getting it in truth.

i thought exactly the same, at the game i thought he was poor, then i come out and here people saying he was amazing, couldnt work it out, then i heard he was mom, need to watch it again, credit to him for playin on after gettin smashed though, didnt half take a hit on the floor

I'm with you three, I thought he was poor.

After getting knocked out though I thought he showed reasl character to pick himself up and score that try. He also put a blinder of a hit on one of their forwards with Woody I think that forced a knock on at a crucial time.

IMHO though that isn't enough for MOM when there were 7 or 8 players who were simply outstanding, including the likes of Mathers, Briers, Morley, Clarke, Carvell and Vinnie.

It was Carvell. I have always thought he tackles way above his weight

Monaghan is at his best when he plays direct and goes forward. Its when he tries to become a playmaker and goes across the pitch it all falls apart spectactularly.

No doubt that would be his best position but we can't go with three front-line hookers in the squad with salary cap constraints.

It just hasn't worked as we all hoped and for me I'll be happy to see him ripping up the NRL again next year. Perhaps there will be a spot at Manly to fill.
