If I was Tony Smith I would be geering everything this year to achieving a Wembley appearance and sod the league. From now until we play Hull KR in the cup I would be trying to figure out what would be the best team to play them and try some combos. Obviously we need Briers back for his playmaking as at Murrayfield we ran out of ideas in the second half. Maybe Mathers to full back if he has some game time too. I hope we beat Hull and Wigan but as long as we are peaking for Hull KR away then its all that matters.
Winning Super League this year is a bloody long shot so I would rather we channel all our energy into Wembley.

Don't be stupid.
We're finding some degree of consitency in our performances now, regardless of result, we've played well including the Hull KR defeat for probably 5 weeks now. Irrespective of if it's CC or SL, we should just be aiming to keep this going week on week and see where that takes us.
Both Wires and Wigans best chance of silverware is in the challenge cup but to concentrate on that solely would be stupid. The play off system gives everybody a chance to win that comp(even if it's a slim one from anywhere but the top 2) and both clubs aren't a million miles away.
As for the CC i think alot of teams will be fancying their chances of a place in the final. Saints are obviously the best side left in it but after that the likes of Wigan, Warrington, Hull Kr and Huddersfield are of a very similar quality and could beat each other on any given day.

Agreed, i also believe fans should still do there best to turn up regardless of us traveling to Hull twice in 3 Weeks, doesn't matter if it's League or Cup the team still need our support.

Yeah but what if it was against Wigan next week and Briers or Morley was not quite fully fit. Would you wanna risk it or save him for the cup game?
I am afraid it is beyond this current squad to win SL in 2009, anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded.

TS can do what he want's with Briers, put him on the scrap heap for me but Morley i don't think will be back until Wigan anyway.
Do you not see that gaining some form in the League would most certainly help the team in the cup, a team like Warrington who need confidence to perform well, it would be foolish do disregard the league.

You don't save folk, risk folk, any of that.
You get the best 17 that you have available that week, and play it, whether that's league or cup. If you get somebody who's borderline, like say Briers, if he was 85% fit for the CC, had trained all week, and it was a calculated gamble, maybe.
Our league season is far from over. Can we win it ? Maybe not. Can we progress further than we have ever done before ? Yes, undoubtably.

I know Briers is a faded force and his body is on the verge of packing in, but he could just be the difference between us making it and not making it to Wembley. He's hopefully not going to be here next year, but for 2009 it would benefit us if we had him in the team.
We do need to keep form up but realistically if we can peak in the cup rounds and not throw our all at the league then we will divert our energy better.
