What is this Twitter? From what I've seen its just the worst bit of Facebook, i.e the status updates where some people feel the need to inform you of what they're up to at any given hour of the day.

Well, it can be like that. It depends upon who you 'follow'.

If you follow the media you get 'breaking news' alerts, for example. One message this pm was about Reardon.

Jamie Oliver is on there and from time to time goes online to answer any cookery queries people might have.

There are people, or bodies who cater for my interests and hobbies.
There are politicians on there, if that's what interests you. It's catching on very heavily with celebs now, too.

It's that kind of thing that appeals to me, TBH. It's much more than a 140 character status.

You could, for example, follow Superleague. They harvest all the news in the newspapers and alert users to the articles, giving a URL to follow. That saves loads of time, TBH.
