In the 2011 play-off game, it was a certain touch judge....James Child who walked onto the field of play with his flag raised to stop play, and told the ref. that Richie Myler was offside at the play the ball when he attempted to charge down an attempted Leeds drop goal that missed.
Ganson had no choice other than to accept Child`s intervention and looked unhappy that the game was probably going to be decided by Child`s opinion. When the Wire players questioned the reason for the penalty, he told them that the touch judge had given offside at the play the ball.
In all the time that I have been watching Rugby League, I have never seen a touch judge stop a game for an offside penalty at the play the ball like that and probably never will in the future.
I was not a big fan of Ganson, but on that occasion he was blameless.
