Re: Squad for Castleford : Fri Mar 01, 2024 2:34 pm
Thewlis has the full skill set as a full back, and he definitely has a passing game. He just needs a long run at full back for us to see the benefits. On the downside he's not lightning fast like Dufty, but he's pretty quick (see the Hudds home game last year). If Dufty has a couple of off-days I can see Thewlis thriving at the back with Lindop back on the wing.

You just know that if we let Thewlis go he'd be snapped up by Leeds, Cats or Wigan and suddenly become a star player that everyone is raving about.

As mentioned, Taylor-Wray also looks fantastic.

Very early days to be making predictions about Lindop I think.

I do like a bit of forward planning but ... we do seem to be wishing our life away a bit. We've hardly started this season yet. Is there still a game tonight?

So another change to the right hand side with Ratchford replacing Wrench who has a groin injury

Shame for Wrench, hopefully it’s not too serious, he needs an extended run to try and nail down a spot permanently.

Three former Wire players in the Cas lineup. Interested to see how Johnson and especially Kibula get on.

Ratch will strengthen the right side without doubt. Will be interresting to see who kicks. If he'd have been fit I'd have preferred Connor only because he needs game time and it would be the right thing to do for the team medium/long term.

Johnson was ok for us. Kibula seemed to me to be a player who had size but not a lot else. Our bench is definately stronger and I suspect after a close 20mins we'll get our noses in front and then pull away as they tire - but hey what do I know?

I'm not too impressed with Musgrove and i've been a fan of his for years. He doesn't play for very long at all and doesn't have impact so far i was expecting. Hopefully firmer grounds and warmer weather will see him hit top form :-) And i hope Bullock can find top form and find whatever Burgess thinks he's lacking.
Max wood is doing a great job job though, he took some big Defensive hits and just got straight up and carried on, he's got a good engine aswell.
I'm glad wrench got dropped as he's had 2 dodgy games on the bounce regardless of his slight niggle i would have dropped him anyway, I hope Ratchford keeps his place for awhile.
Currie i thought has been brilliant at 13, thought he should have moved there years ago, i like his Mike Gregory style head band, wonder if he's channeling his toughness :-)
Hayes had another good solid game, And i thought Harrison was brilliant tonight, really added big impact whenever he was on the field :-)

Suspect Ratchford will be playing in our halves at Hull KR.

Drinkwater`s thigh was heavily strapped during last night`s game and he was taken off in the second half.
