Think we need 17 marquee players or just import a full NRL side. I’m getting old would like to see us win 1 Grand Final before I go

There is talk of Luke Thompson return To Super League in 2024, and if he does he will be demanding a Marquee salary.

I think Wire would be competing for his signature with Wigan, Saints and Catalan.

From memory it was voted on back in 2018 with incremental raises to £2.1 million by 2020 nothing since then. Was also at that time when the 2nd marquee was added.

Nobody is old enough to remember that:). In effect it has decreased since it was introduced, one would have thought that it should have been increased at least by the level of inflation.

That's exactly what I thought. Seems bizarre that it seems to have stood still for so long, especially in recent times as inflation as rocketed.

Are the marquee signings part of the cap figure, or are they a separate issue for a club's budget?

If this was public sector pay negotiations they would describe it as "delivering value for money for the taxpayer through ensuring pay restraint".
