Oh dear. The video clearly shows contact with his lower jaw which is a high tackle. He bit his lip.

Its not exactly uncommon of Carvell, he is a penalty machine. I know I spent enough years on the other side of that fence. Quality player though, well worth that trade off.

That's interesting, I didn't have Carvell down as a penalty machine. The stats that shows he concedes one penalty per 1.5 games must be very misleading.

The tackle completion (elbow slam in face) when he got his yellow card was much more dangerous that the Horne incident - I wouldn't have been surprised if the review panel had brought that one up instead.

Not a coincidence it happened so early in the game for me. I suspect he had one of those fake blood capsules that you can buy from Whites in the market in his mouth since the game started just waiting for Carvell to tackle him so that he could bite into it and play dead. Ganson fell for it hook, line and sinker.

I never thought I would ever see the day when rugby league contained such blatant play-acting.

A high tackle is given at the first point of contact, when a swinging arm hits the oppositions ball carrying arm it's chest height, it can not be seen as a high tackle regardless of were the arm ended up because the first point of contact was below the neck.

"Tackling in rugby league is supposed to be at shoulder level or below at the first point of contact. So a high tackle is anything above that or something that the referee deems dangerous in that one arm or more arms are above the level of the opponent's shoulders".

That happens a few times in every game though so don't think they'd be too bothered unless there was a crackdown for some reason. Silly play nothing else.

At no point did that tackle make contact with Hornes face.
