Think there is also a WBT bus, number 120 that runs from the station @ newton to warrington. Both these buses run on a sunday although i'm not sure of times. If you do catch the 34 you don't need to walk all the way into leigh, you can catch it outside the car wash place just before the bridge into leigh and that should knock a few minutes off your walk. Hope this is of some help and i know how you feel as i also have to do the same journey sometimes when the wire play on a sunday although its the other way around.
The Arriva 34 St Helens to Leigh, via Newton-le-Willows, bus doesn't run on Sundays. It only operates between St Helens and Newton-le-Willows.
