Yes I think it's because we have been holding all the ace cards on both Chase and Sneyd. Fans favourite Chase to Salford was a non starter in the eyes of many Cas fans and then it happened. Then they get Marc Sneyd on loan and they probably had pretty low expectations. The lad performs great and contibutes to a fantastic half season but he's still contracted to Salford and they want to keep him.
What I think makes it more hard for some to accept is I'm sure that they have always considered Salford an inferior club financially and it all changed when the Doc came on board. If Chase had gone to Wigan or Warrington I think the Castleford supporters would have accepted that much easier.
Further to this I think the Doc's outspoken views on twitter has stoked up even more anger and bitterness. As you say it's an obsession for many of them to troll us now, especially whilst they are currently holding the high ground following a successful year so far.
The best thing to do is just ignore their posts and they'll get bored.
As for Cas as a team I've always liked them and still do. Everybody likes an underdog and I've enjoyed watching them cause quite a few upsets this year.
A very balanced and honest post.
I have to say that I agree with you on most points. However, it's getting harder and harder to like them with the idiots that come on here. If you are a Twitter user, reading anything MK posts (regardless of subject) attracts bell-ends like flies on a bucket of turds. Most of those flies are Cas fans with a splattering of other 'fans'. Just be thankful that we only get half a dozen on here because Twitter is positively alive with brain damage. I've been trying to figure out the various reasons why Cas seems to have more specials per head than other teams and their particular fascination with us?
While your succinct post answers part of that question admirably it still, in my eyes, doesn't account for the sheer numbers of excitable dribblers. Some you'd expect, but the numbers are staggering when you take social media into the question. The one or two quality Cas fans are being drowned-out by the noise of Premiership quality fools. If I was a Cas fan I'd be very optimistic but also very cautious. Success can come to anyone under the right circumstances, maintaining that success is the greatest challenge. Only a few Clubs have managed it. For fans to ride the excitement wave of a good half season is to be expected. For a team coming from the 'lower' part of SL to do it, more so. However, the fact that you come from the lower tier would mean to most sensible thinkers, that recent memory of hard times would drive your thinking. It seems that Bullied become the Bully in this case.
Which is a bit disheartening to be honest.
I have no ill will to Castleford or its people. The Club, its players, or its staff. Considering we're supposed to be a RL Family where most Clubs are struggling to even exist, to take pleasure in other Clubs misfortunes seems to me to be the lowest of the low. While I reserve my ire for those that deserve it, the increasing numbers of them at Cas are turning my opinions against them as a general group.
Dignity and humility have yet to make themselves felt over at Cas in any numbers.
