Again as I posted the other day i've left it a while for the dust to settle and thought long and hard about what to put here.

The straw that broke the camels back for me was listening to Rock Radio this morning with the worlds worst news presenter Aussie Scott seemingly laughing at the fact that Salford got destroyed yesterday.

I now think the time has come for the club to look at itself and think is the current coaching staff capable of turning things around and instilling some pride and beleife in the shirt? and I personally think even the most blinkered within the club most agree that SM isnt going to do this. I listened to the game on the radio yesterday and was embarresed and was thankfull that I hadnt wasted good money traveling to hull (it is well known I dont go to many away games and to be honest I would rather let Nellie the Elephant and rest of the pacydurm precision tap danceing team loose on by gonads than go to Hull for what was only ever going to be a sound beating).
I have never seen a more rigid and structured approach to substituions than under SM, surely this is a fluid concept and each gamemust be judged on it's merrits as it progresses (I have read on another thread that big Phil and Cashmere wantmore game time well for gods sake give it to them as thingssimply couldnt get any worse than they currently are. I also wonder at the wisdom of dropping Ratchford from the squad altogether and think that potentially we run the risk of pishing him off and him heading of to a rival SL team who will appreciate his undoubted talents.

I fear for what will happen next week in the cup again over in Hull and seriously think we run the risk a terrible defeat of a very very high nature. We are short already of numbers and must now risk putting some kids in.
I have also just read that the club have no money for any signings and that there appears to be some interest in Wilshere from other clubs, well lets hope that the interested clubs have some fringe players we can swap as for me he hasnt looked interested for one second whilest on the pitch this year and we would be well advised to make use of this interest while it exists.

I would now seriously call on the club (or if we are honest Wilky) to see sense and get in someone who can inspire before the season is lost and a great many more fans to boot.

Bring back Karl Harrison we were no worse under him.

Rant over.

We were a far better team under Karl. I was disappointed when we sacked Karl as I felt that the season before we had played the best rugby I had seen at the Willows for a long time. We had improved year on year and I felt he was a victim of his own success.

I have become extremely disillusioned with the progress of the team. Although our results were good last season most Salford fans admit that the team did not delevop at all in preparation for super league. St Helens fans are quick to support but just because he was a success at Saints means that he will turn things around here. Look throughout sport and a coach who has suceeded at one club can fail at another. He was a disaster at South Sydney down under.

[quote="SteveRed"]The thing is RedHazel that we were better under Harrison weren't we? We had similar average players who he (and Lowes) melded into a team that wanted to play for each other and the defence was generally very good. They played as a team until ..... errrr they decided they didn't want to - and it was at that point that players should have been pushed and not the Coach IMHO.
What dismays me most of all is that they have, again, despite the usual protestations, decided that they are not playing as a team. For so-called, professional athletes it is scandalous.

Agree with what you say about being the players fault that Karl was sacked and it would appear that the same thing is happening again thus my point about prima donnas. The only way to sort this out is to show these players they are not bigger than the club by either dropping them or showing them the door.

Enough is enough things need sorting now and if that involves sackings let it not just be the coach this time but the players responsible as well.

the change we need is to get rid off simms, hes been there far too long and we only had one good season with him in the sl the rest was fighting to stay up.ok we won the national league a few times but no offence anyone can win that league.we need a fresh face and it may boost the spirits up then in the traning camp.alker shouldnt be captain but watching him this season and you can only see him consantly talking to the lads on the field trying to boost them up.il be there every week so support the reds cos im not letting defeats get me down.things cant get any worse at the club now so got to look up and look forward to the good things to come like a second win lol

Tis a sorry state of affairs at the moment  but I can`t immediately see a way out.

Team wise we can do little other than shuffle the same team & with the injuries have to bring a few kids, in, give Stef a run at S.O.

As for the coach I am coming around to what seems to be the majority view BUT if we have no money how can we afford to pay off SMs contract ? Plus if we could find £100/150000 (?) for this would it be better keeping him and using this to bolster the team ??

Could go on forever, but I like hoping that things will get better as we adapt to SL...................... still I kept saying the team will gel and play great last year and it never hapenned either.

Now where is that No for the Samaritans...............................

Like most on here I'm extremely dissapointed at the moment.

As for Sacking Mcrea though. Can the club really afford to sack him, how many of the previous coaches are we still paying off ? I've been a fan for 20 years, Kevin Tamati was in charge since then every manager has got sacked, and it's the same story, a new bloke comes in complains about inherting a squad, sacks a load of the players brings in new players, they dont perform so the manager gets sacked and we're back where we started.

Also why was Mcrea given a four & 1/2 year deal, he took us over as were were already doomed 1/2 a year. That gave him 4 years to build, so he banked on getting us back into superleague, which he did. so he's got 3 years left I think he knew when he signed we'd struggle back and to cover himself he wanted a long contract.

Based on this I've been prepared to stick by him and let him see the job out, for one thing the club need a bit of stability. But as the weeks go on i'm getting more and more frustrated.

Assuming we can't afford to sack him, & he leaves by mutual consent and because no one is available, what about letting Naylor and Hunte have a go at first team coaching, or as a last resort lets try and tempt Cullen away from Widnes.

Rant over.

Sweet mother of Jesus I would rather get Harvie or Jack back than let Cullen near Salford.

I think letting Naylor and Hunt try for the rest of the year seems like a fair notion and I personally think that Robbie Paul will go on to become a top notch coach so let him take over some of the academy duties that Hunt wont be able to do.

this will not be the end, or even the beginning of the end.
It is merely the end of the beginning

There should be no reward for failure, until the sporting world realise this, we will always be left in this position and that goes for players contracts too. There's too much namby pamby sp? theses days. Contracts should be set out on a win bonus structure only, not a guaranteed lump sum every month.

After hearing Mcraes comments he should do the honourable thing and walk.

Would you walk away Black Cat if you were him with 2.5 years left on a contract, knowing it would almost definately be your last coaching job?

Maybe a cheaper solution for the club would be to bring in a new assistant with some new ideas and enthusiasm? Perhaps someone that can motivate and get more from the players, I know it's not ideal but its worth a go surely?
