You've got to take a lot of heart from that performance. We've had a very tough start and to pick up 2 wins already is better then anyone predicted i thought second half we was excellent were starting to look like a team and i look forward to the game against Wire (hopefully make AJ a fortress). I thought Kopczak looked class again that one on one steal was first class. I do however feel we need another prop Kopczak and Griffin are playing long minutes as i feel were a little under strength in this position but hey the future does look very good. Happy salford fan!!!!!!

Glad we're competing, however that game to me hurts that it was there for the taking. Josh Griffins defensive anomalies cost us the game, i'd flirt him back to the wing. Period

Re: Wigan away : Fri Feb 26, 2016 10:36 am
A few observations from last night:

I watched the game from the 'main stand'. When amongst the travelling supporters it is often hard to gauge how loud the support is. Safe to say, we won that contest hands down last night  . Very little noise from the Wigan fans (none without the accompaniment of 'that' drum).

To come away disappointed at a narrow loss shows how far we are progressing. Thought for long periods we more than matched them. It's a shame we couldn't finish off our first half breaks like they did. We have our best half backs for over a decade, and they will only get better.

An elderly Wigan fan turned around at full time and told my young boys not to feel despondent - that is the best Salford side he has seen there for many years (so they aren't all one-eyed obnoxious so and so's).

The ref was awful. Simply awful. But for both teams. The knock on he missed at the end is a prime example, but I thought he could have done Gorge Griffin for not paying the ball correctly before Murdoch-Masila's try. Let's not focus on the ref - we need to accept it and move on.

If we play every week like we have for the last 3 I will be making more away trips as finally (hopefully) we have a TEAM worth watching.

I bet he stands even further in when you visit Cas in a couple of weeks!
On a serious note, this is the issue with Carney, he can score tries others can't through brute force, but he concedes tries like a schoolboy.
Saw the highlights, you can only imagine that all the officials were looking somehwere else when the ball was dropped, it wasn't even subtle. Another example of why having video refs at certain games is unfair, had it been the your game on last night you would have an extra 2 points on the board.

As much as it pains me to say it... It seems we may all be wrong on the knock on incident.

Having watched this back a number of times... The ball is knocked out by Walne... So had this been on TV and gone to the screen, at best it would have been a penalty to Wigan in front of the sticks.

Therefore... probably losing the game anyway.

That's not to say the referee wasn't poor and give some dodgy decisions and Salford didn't deserve at least a draw from the game.

Re: Wigan away : Fri Feb 26, 2016 3:40 pm
One of the worst refereeing displays I can remember, for both teams. It's a credit to both teams that they made it such an entertaining 80 minutes when Stokes seemed adamant on ruining it through his constant blowing.

I thought our first 40 was very disappointing, similarly to Widnes last week we gifted Wigan possession of the ball through our own mistakes. Flanagan losing the ball for their first try and then after a good set, instead of pinning them in their own 20 we're too slow in defence and allow them to the full length again. We made 3 or 4 great breaks in the first half and got nothing from them, whereas Wigan always had support options, we had none. (I accept the turnaround for this game was particularly short too).

I thought we improved second half and had a really good 15 minute spell, once we finally got over it looked like something had clicked.

Came away disappointed that we didn't get at least a point, but on the other hand I felt last night (and the previous two games) had shown me enough to suggest we will be challenging for a top 8 place this season. Thankfully the players have a decent rest ahead of them before Warrington next week, should be another cracker.

Have a word with yourself you mentalist, there's video evidence to back it up. There's clearly a hand in at the PTB and the fact that the Salford players say nothing speaks volumes.
