Leigh's failure to gain promotion has really impacted on the future playing careers of these players then? In hindsight Hansen and Paterson would have been better advised agreeing terms subject to Leigh getting promoted. As for Rangi it looks like nobody else in SL wanted to take the gamble.
The trouble is, once you've burnt your bridges there's little chance of going back.
I'm not that sorry to see them go to be honest. It's great having watched the talent that Rangi has in a Salford shirt, but his baggage creates more problems than it's worth. Patterson has been good for us but he made his choices and he's easily replaced, imo. I'm most disappointed in Hansen. Captain of the side with solid links in his family and upbringing at the Club, happy to drop it all and disappear at the drop of a hat. He gives his all and has always given 100% on the pitch, but for the money I can't help think that we could have a more dynamic second-row.
With respect to Leigh, if I was one of their fans I'd be wary of the direction Chase and Hansen have gone over the last few seasons. I can't help think that they will do to Leigh what they have done to us and are basically following the money with scant regard for much else. I have no doubt that they will rip it up in the Championship. Chase facing window-cleaners and bus drivers will do that.
Ultimately I'm happy that Sheens doesn't take any prisoners and I trust that judgement. He wants players with the right attitude, these players obviously don't fit that criteria.
