The question I was asked was name British scrum halves they could have got for less- so I answered. I hope it works out for Sneyd -as god knows we need an international half back mcbananaman is willing to pick. (I'm sure the Irish cap will be overlooked) but 100k is over the odds IMO. Few players go for that transfer fee, fewer with just a year left on contract and for just a handful of top level games there's ..... Well..... Who?
I asked you to name better scrum halfs than Hull could for 100k.
Of the 4 you named, Fages isn't a better player (currentley), we wouldn't be able to sign Myler and Smith as there clubs wouldn't release them (plus I reckon both would command over 100K), so that would leave Robinson as the only viable option of those mentioned, personally I would rather pay 100K for Sneyd than 50K for Robinson, he is younger with a lot more potential.
Also Sneyd has played 65 games at the top level, not really a handful.
It might not work out for him at Hull and then the 100K woudl seem like a lot, but if we can get a good few years out of him and he can perform to the level he has at Cas, that it is a great investment.

Personally think Fages is an equally good scrum halve to Sneyd and if I'm honest is a proper scrum halve where Sneyd as has been mentioned before he is more of a stand off. Sneyd is a top quality kicker which adds considerably to his value. I think if Fages and Sneyd both played for 3 years as a scrum halve week in week out Theo would progress into the much better of the two but Sneyd will without doubt become an even better player than he has shown he is this season if Hull surround him with other talented players.

You're arguing so vociferously on this subject I'm beginning to wonder who you're trying to convince, us or yourself?

I need no convincing, I think it is great money spent, such limited good halfbacks in world rugby, he is the type of player we would have missed out on a few years ago. If you had seen the amount of injured or poor halfbacks I have seen at Hull the last few years, you would also be getting excited like me. I suppose its the same as Salford fans seeing poor players over the last few years or their best players being sold, you have to enjoy the good moments.

Fages has been very underwhelming this season, he needs to step up and improve dramatically in my opinion. Still wouldn't surprise me if he was named young player of year again though, he can't do anything wrong if you beleive people. Theo has to be loaned out for me and prove himself like Sneyd has done this season.
What makes me laugh, since Sneyd put in be request some of our fans have come out with, well he's only got a good boot. Now the Cas fans who where quite frankly obsessed with the opportunity of signing him, they are coming out well, he only had a good half a season and we got Roberts coming over with X amount of games under his belt and is the better option. Don't know why fans of both sides turn soon as a player decided to leave or choose another club. As a fan, I would of live Marc to have stay but circumstances have meant he see's his future elsewhere. Again as a fan, I'm disappointed another youth product (if you beleive people we don't produce any) will be plying his trade elsewhere next season. We now have numerous players from out system dotted around SL, I would like to keep these players and have home grown core from SRD. Fans may have not got their back up over MS moving on as we as a club are in much better position to sign better players. There may be the odd few like myself that would rater have a team full of, Evalds, Sneyd, Walne brothers, Davidson, Owen rather than players such as J Murphy, McGoldrick, Muallaney, T Smith, S Rapira, T Lee, the list could go on TBH.
Ps for the grammar police sorry if there is a couple mistakes, I'm in my phone.

Some good points.
I'm a Salford fan who thought Sneyd was good for us. Not consistent but well above average. All this in a poor team at the time. I haven't seen anything to change my mind after watching him for Cas. He's had some good performances and some poor ones. The difference being he's been playing in a better side than last seasons Salford side. I don't buy all the Cas fans saying he's made vast improvements under their coaching in comparison. They're basing that on the fact that he's performed well overall so far in a team that's riding a crest of a wave. If they'd have struggled in the table so far but Sneyd played the same they wouldn't be making the same calls. Plus most of it stems from the 'we want to keep him at all costs' brigade.
I can't speak for anyone else, but the loss of Sneyd for me isn't hitting me hard. For the simple reason that the players ahead of him in the pecking order at Salford are, in my opinion, much better. If we didn't have Chase or Dobson it would be hitting much harder.

I agree with that. We can only go by what we see, and we've seen Marc more than most over the past few years. Like any other player, he's had good games and bad games, but I don't think he's ever achieved the heights Rangi has achieved for us at times this season. On the two occasions we've faced him this year, he's been pretty anonymous, while, each time, Rangi has been far more effective (particularly in the game at ours, where he turned in a MoM performance). While it's always disappointing to see a home grown player leave, I'm pretty happy with the way things have turned out.
First and foremost,I'm happy with the way things have turned out with us having Chase and Dobson, with Sneyd now developing his career elsewhere. Drinks all round. Maybe I'm not the best judge of a young player but I didn't think Sneyd had this in him. He has come on leaps and bounds since he went to Cas. What we don't know is whether he would have matured so well had he had another season with us. I don't think they'll let Theo go out on loan but ,unless he gets the necessary game time, his development could stall.
