At least we WILL have a stadium to play in, in 2012, more than any PR at this point will do for Wakey & Cas. Doesnt matter how many statements are made or from who, we have all seen the stadium is on its way for us.
I would be more concerned if we were still at Wakey & Cas's positions, but, WE ARE NOT!!!!
Red tinted glasses or what Shirley? Yeah its great that the stadium is up and running, but you must surely accept this is poor by the club? Yeah give praise where praise is due we are getting a stadium, but the club MUST be criticized for this! I couldn't give a flying f*ck about Cas and Wakey so don't bring them into this its about us and our inept public relations skills not about Cas or wakey (Who still managed to speak to the press btw).
Shirl please for one moment take an outside look at things, p*ss P*ss poor PR by all concerned at Salford City Reds

The club made a boo-boo? I thought I heard the dull trouser-pings of the Turkey masses as I watched Boots n' All. I was so enraged at not hearing the same tired lines about our stadium that I raised an almighty tut! Then got on with my life, but I'm dull like that...

Of course they MUST. What do you propose? A letter to the directors, drawing their attention to their staff's oversight? Perhaps a name-and-shame policy so we know exactly who swear at during home matches? Or shall we just have a big old bitch about it on here? We can use capitals to show HOW MUCH IT MATTERS!

Not saying I agree or disagree. Life on this fence ambivalence is a place I'm currently happy to be. But all the same, Very funny!
Boots-n-All plays to a dedicated audience of folk who are already RL fans.
The fact of our stadium being publicised or otherwise on such a show will make not one jot of difference to anything or anyone.
What will need to happen, and has the capability of making a difference is a concerted, concentrated marketing campaign to coincide with the stadium opening to attract new spectators. If the Club/Peel/Council don't do that at the right moment, then that is the time to criticise - the fact that we didn't have a spokesman on preaching to the already converted is of no consequence at all.

Right, I get it now. Must have been me ignoring the importance sky has on pro sport these days!
Mate IMO we have very few fans now, and the club must be trying to get the whole city and beyond interested in Salford RLFC. I cannot get how people can defend the club on missing out on a massive press release, please explain and set my mind at ease, are we happy with our PR?
Yes I have sent an e-mail to the club for an explanation. To disregard and tell the the biggest broadcaster of sport that we'd get back to them, and then not even bother to reply knocks me sick!!!
If the club do not wish to a) look stupid, b) look lazy, or c) look like they are trying to cover something up, then they themselves need to either get the best information they can from Peel and the Council to give to Sky, or at least get some sort of statement to them - Not give the impression that they've done nothing.

Whilst it may well not be a stadium built and owned by Salford City Reds let's not pretend that it's absolutely noting to do with the club, without them nobody would be building a stadium and a plot of contaminated land in the city would continue to lie unused.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but are the stadiums of Saints and Cas/Wakey their own ventures?
It appears that all the parties involved in Salford's new stadium either can't or are not willing to coalesce when it comes to public relations, doesn't it? It's frustrating and disappointing, but it isn't a new thing.
Ever since the project left the club's hands, updates from the Salford City Council-Peel collusion have been few and far between. In fact, much of it we've had to unearth ourselves from the bowels of the Council's website. This begs the question: if the joint venture cabal are unable or unwilling to speak about the new stadium, why not direct Sky Sports and any other media outlet to the information that is already in the public domain and therefore not sensitive? (i.e. the architect's drawings and the work that's currently taking place on the ground.)
You could argue that the Boots 'n' All producers were lazy for not digging out this readily available information. A self-respecting journalist would portray this story equally on all sides, which would involve some research. Not much research either. Merely a couple of minutes on Salford City Council's website and a drive past the new stadium site with a camera. By the looks of it (I confess, I didn't watch the programme) Boots 'n' All didn't portray this and therefore gave a biased view. Mind you, this is a News Corp. influenced company we're talking about.

I think it matters to some of our club's supporters, the supporters of other clubs and onlookers, particularly RL journos and writers. Since the collapse of Red City Developments I think there is a distrust of what has been said about the new stadium. I've read comments by said journos in newspapers and blogs, and threads on forums by opposing fans that convey the feeling that our club leading people on or 'swinging the lead'.
However, should we be bothered about these people? They are certainly down the list of people to influence; the RFL are higher up and you'd sincerely hope they are well up to speed with the project's ongoing developments.
I am as disappointed as anyone here about the PR effort post-RCD's demise; the joint venture should have set up an outlet rather than being so guarded as they have been thus far. But it's a bit late to do something about that now, particularly if in 10-12 weeks time the build begins and convinces everyone that the project is truly up and running.

Think the Boots and All thing is a PR disaster, much as I loathe SKY they are what in effect keeps RL alive in this country and we have not had the foresight to even attempt to provide them with some even rudimentory information. As Chico says the information is available openly on the councils website so why could'nt the club have used this and spent a little time and effort cobbling it together into a media friendly package (I doubt SKY called in the afternoon and said we need a 100 page report and detailed plans by 5 tonight for the show).
Sorry I hate to disagree with Shirl but this does show an endemic lack of professionalism on behalf of the club, some are privvy to the amounts the club spend on advertising and why this isnt a great deal more and yet here was a perfect vehicle for some free publicity and yet we missed it and gained nothing but bad press from it.
The club have dropped a clanger, they should have found someone to say something about the new stadium Howard is usually good to do these things and don't we pay a media spokesperson?
The bigger question here for me is how do we expect to attract new fans and sell teh game to manchester if we can't get our act together. The publicity for the new stadium should now be at the second stage where we are pushing awareness.
Every night Sale have a article in the MEN (misnamed as it has become a morning paper) Utd and City dominate the back pages and the central sections. We should have the buuilding bricks for the future in place and this is an indication that we haven't.
