All this and at the start of the season you had the hapless Phil Clarke tipping Salford to finish top of SL and win the Grand Final.

How silly that man must feel right now.

Thats not your owners way though is it? Actually I would have thought the best way would be to get the right coach but that is not always as easy as it seems either but at some stage you have to be patient.

You've quoted a Swinton fan. Just for reference.

That's just not true though. Last season's team was made up of players close to retirement and players who were little more than Championship standard. There had to be a major clearout. How was that a knee jerk reaction?

Now, you could argue that some of the players recruited in their place are little better than the ones who were released, and the responsibility for that lies with the coach who signed them. How was removing that coach a knee jerk reaction?

As is typical with RL fans (or at least the ones who inhabit the sand pit this forum is becoming) if something happens once, they see it as a pattern and something to be derided. As you can see from this thread, there are Widnes fans pulling the meat right off the bone in their excitement over what's happening.

As for building the club 'from the kids up', I think that's just fantasy stuff. Without a successful first team, how are the club going to attract any of these kids of which you speak?

With respect look at the two signings for next season, do you consider either to be Salford standard players? Then we turn to the kids I know for a fact that the policy is to look all over the place bar Salford for young players .... What message does that send to local kids who would possibly excel representing their club.

Some might look at this as being harsh but I think it's fair. When are the Rugby League going to stop persisting with this fantasy expansion. If it hasn't worked by now, it never will! I'm all for reaching out to a wider audience with our game but not at the expense of historical clubs in the homelands.

To be fair he probably didn't expect Noble to be sacked after a handful of matches and replaced by one of the worst coaches available.

Incidentally, whilst I accept that the season before last you had an ageing team, you can hardly say that the likes of Puletua and Morely etc were youth signings.
You have just been turned over by a very very young Wigan team, a good number of which are coming from their youth system, so I disagree that the build up has to come from a successful first team.

On the south coast with a load of retired folk. Makes me feel young.

Re: harris out : Fri May 23, 2014 8:01 am
If history in sport has taught us one think it is that chopping and changing coaches regularly never works. Every coach has their own ideas and needs time to implement them. He will also need the opportunity to recruit and train players in the style he wants them to play.

It was said on sky that during Marwan's short reign at Salford you have already had 4 head coaches. That is a big part of your short comings so far this season. A strong club needs to be built on stability and strong foundations. The excitement creating by MK's bold statements so far has only created expectations that won't be fulfilled.

Salford need to be realistic, all the clubs challenging for silverware have been built up over time, concentrating on youth development and have had a relatively stable coaching staff.

I honestly hope that MK has the patience to understand this and is looking to build the club from the bottom up.

I did think Harris got his tactics very wrong last night though. I believe he thought a back to basics approach was enough which proved wrong. There was a total lack of adventure from Salford.

Its noticeable that Wigan did not make much of an effort to keep him, you would have thought that if they rated him at all they would have extended his contract before coolcash promised him the moon on a stick.

What an absolute shower you lot are.

A total joke club from top to bottom.

An embarrassment to Rugby League.

Not as embarrassing as Widnes who spent years in oblivion after being the dominant team of the 70s and 80s!
